Chomfoil Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Has anyone got their Flysurfer Pulses yet? Are they good? What are your first impressions? I'm thinking about getting a 10m to use for landboarding. I've heard that they have an extreme depower range and they are almost imposible to luff or collapse. Cheers Tom Quote
HippyMchop Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Yes I have heard that as well, lots of reviews and videos at www.foilzone.com. There was a delay in production and an additional safety system was added as standard this pushed the release date back from the 1st March 06 to the 20th March 06. There has been no other hints of delays so should be in Germany on the 20th Sven will prob have his by Wednesday?? Sven at Oceanside currently is running a pre-order list, give him a ring (http://www.Oceanside.co.uk). He has had the 10m for a recent holiday to Bermuda and loved it so much he has sold all his Speeds and is now kite less because of the delay (silly man). I have had mine on order (7m), since well before the beginning of this month and hoping to get it wed (please, please, please)!!! Dave, Quote
vibro100 Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Is the Pulse replacing the psycho 2? Quote
kahis Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Is the Pulse replacing the psycho 2? Nope. It replaces the Extacy/XTC. I 'psycho3' is planned but AFAIK the design is still far from final. Quote
carlos_climber Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 I rode the 10 mt Pulse on water today. Top kite - great depower - handles gusts like a dream. Best relaunch of any kite I've come across. Jumpin send the kite and pull the bar and you fly. Not as much hang as the speeds - but still very good. Build quality - as per usual Flysurfer. stable as anything You wont regret your purchase. Quote
Chomfoil Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 sounds good! Would there be any advantages over an open cell foil if i only intend to use it on land? Quote
HippyMchop Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Gust stability would be the main one and the Pulse has more depower than any current foil on the market. Dave, Quote
Skyhooked Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 dave, is that what you read? it has 100% depower, but that doesnt mean that it has a bigger windrange than any foil on the market i wouldnt know anyway as have not tested depower foil on the market, i would love to hear from someone who has Quote
KermitStu Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 is ground handling same as all the flysurfers staking down Quote
HippyMchop Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Current info I am running from is Sven from Oceanside had a few long talks with him, and Flysurfer website. No kite yet but I will have soon!! Tone is the man to talk to he currently has one of the first kitse in the country!! Yet haven’t heard much from him on here in a while (think he is playing with his new toy!!) The flysurfer websites wind ranges are normally very accurate with low end been with a Door and top end being with a small board. The overpowered region is also normally achievable although unless skill is involved it is survival time. Dave, Edit: Yes I apologies, I have not flown or seen every foil available. So let me rephrase that; it has a wind range much larger than any current flysurfer. Sven and a few others have said it has the equivalent de-power of a bow but less on and off. Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 dave, is that what you read? it has 100% depower, but that doesnt mean that it has a bigger windrange than any foil on the market i wouldnt know anyway as have not tested depower foil on the market, i would love to hear from someone who has if any other foil on the market could depower like the pulse can then we would know, the pulse has the depower of the best bow kites, except it has a linear progression from powered to depowered and also flys stable when depowered, think of it like a frenzy except it's stable and depowers to nothing when the bar's out... Quote
carlos_climber Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 I can confirm - the depower is very very smooth Quote
Chomfoil Posted March 19, 2006 Author Report Posted March 19, 2006 I can confirm - the depower is very very smooth cool:cool: Does anyone know how this kite will compare to a venom13? because im torn between the Pulse 10m and the Venom 13m:confused: Tom Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 PULSE will have much more low end, much more top end, more lift and hangtime, stability and turning speed will be similar, ground handling and relaunch will be far simpler and safer on the PULSE, and the build quality will be better, thats about it... Quote
jason mcgowan Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Have you flown one ?would you ever say that any Flysurfer kite is not as good as another brand? watch the pimps chom Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Have you flown one ? have you flown a pulse? if you think i'm lying then go try one of the preserial kites floating around then come back and you can tell them yourself... as for what i said, i stand by it, the PULSE will have more low end, more top end, more lift and hangtime, be simpler and safer on the ground, relaunch easier and quicker also and be built better would you ever say that any Flysurfer kite is not as good as another brand? define "better" or "not as good as" - it depends entirely on your own perceptions and needs for a kite, so it's meaningless, i never said the PULSE was "better" than the Venom, just stated some facts, make up your own mind and weigh up the pros and cons, to me it seems like a no brainer, unless you buy a kite because of it's colour scheme and are partial to flames... Tone Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 haha, you mean he isnt as sarcastic?? i have a 10m at the moment, i have used it once on land, i lent it to Carlos C this weekend and he had a session out on the water with it yesterday in chunky 25-30knots, all you need to know about the depower is that someone of 65kg shouldn't be able to use a 10m kite in that much wind, but from all accounts Andy (carlos) seems to have had a great time on the kite. it has an amazing amount of depower, i would imagine my range on land would be from 15-32knots, and on water i reckon i should be able to manage 40knots. now weaher i would or not is not what i am getting at, but i think if i was out and the wind was to go sick on me, i would be able to get back to the beach safely. with my 10m speed, i would be swimming (or flying) trying to get back to the beach. the turning speed is good, the stability is very VERY good. you can run forward with the kite above your head and it will not fold up, it just follows you and doesnt fold. due to the huge depower it has really REALLY good pop for jumps. i think it has nearly as much depower as most bows. but nothing i say will please everyone so lemmi know where you are, and i will see if i can get there so you can fly the kite only way you will know if its your type of kite. hope to get some time on the kite this coming week Tony it is certainly very far ahead of other foil kites. IMO. Quote
Skyhooked Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 ^^ thats an informative reply tone i'm really looking forward to flying the pulse this april duude! its not the lack of sarcasm more the predictablity of reply that isnt so interesting to read any more - still more interesting than a lot of posts, just not up to the LTW standard of old Quote
