N Easterlies you can go to felixtow .....or further round to shingle street - aldeburgh in suffolk

Nw - NE Minster......about 10 - 15 miles across the Thames estuary....unfortunately it will be a 50 mile drive for you.

Some people wait for lowish tide and kite in offshore as the water is so shallow you can stop and walk.....but you need to know what you are doing.

it not good to go out in off shore wind and even more so when it cold as if you got blow off shore you could be in the water for quite a while :eek::eek::eek:

mmm that's what I thought but was assured by some locals - that's what they do.....That's why I said you need to know what you are doing.......but remember....what is cross shore at east beach is off shore at Toms........drift down a bit in a NE and you're way out.

Don't go out in off shore winds, some locals do there in the summer (including the school:confused: ) but in winter if the **** hits the fan - you really will be in trouble - and then so will the rest off us when the RNLI have to make another rescue!!!!

There are plenty of places to sail in Northerlys, but you have to travel:(

Bradwell on Sea in the Blackwater Estuary is good in Northerlies, Well I say good, usually gusty ****ty wind but onshore.

About 30 mins from Southend, head towards the old nuclear power station.

Watch the shells at low tide and don't eat the mud as it's full of heavy metals (probably, allegedly) other than that it's great, It used to be a brill winter sailing place when the power station was running as the water there was about 5 degrees warmer.

I am off to sew an extra leg on the wetsuit i've just bought.

Nothing wrong with Kitesurfing out in the estuary on a Northerly off shore other than it's fairly chilly, we used to do it with the Blades.

Make sure it's towards low tide and go with a mate, never known anyone to have a problem yet. The best spot is that shallow lagoon thingy and you cannot go further then the mud bank on the other side.

As mentioned before Minster is probably the spot.
