oxford for kite surfing

i am just starting kite surfing and often go down to wales porthcawl once a mounth but were else is there to go near or in oxford i have heard of plans maby to use a lack but thats going to be a long time of yet:mad:

lol i tried to contact farmoor resivior but there all gay so wouldnt let us kitesurf, portmeadow is do able when it floods

Dont think port meadow goes down to well with the city council. I tend to head to wales but poole or southhamton are closer.

i want to find one as well cause i am at boarding school in bloxham just south of banbury. i go to aberdovey in wales. you going to the porthcawl jam on the 11/12 of feb. i think there might be a lake near bodicote. hydro extreme is too far.

Stu, I'll talk to you about somewhere I know next time you're out flying. I don't know how up for having kite surfers they are so I can't really post it on here until we've approached them and had a go. They currently do wake boarding, water skiing and jet skiing there though so it's big enough.

Wait a few years - actually, wait until 2011 - and the largest resevoir in southern England will be right on your door step. You can thank Thames Water. They are progressing well with plans to flood a massive area in the Vale of the White Horse.

i have an idea, we could flood banbury cause its not worth keeping anyway i'll have a drive around to find a good spot.

a couple of my mate belong to a wakeboarding club, i havent been able to go with them yet, but once i have, i should have a good idea of where to we could go. I think its 45min/1 hour drive. Lots of lakes have specified regualtions about any motor powered crafts in the water but none for wind or self powered. So we should be cool.

there is some site closer that do wake boarding one by benson so we need to ask them

There two roads and loads of trees at the one near benson-best to stick to wakeboardin' there i reakon.

did you think of farmoor reservoir. looks huge from multimap almost a mile long with a road in the middle to jump. council might not like us doing that though

Farmoor is a no go as Thames Water don't allow kitesurfing. Approached them a couple of years ago.

Can't see much alternative other than a long drive most weekends as i do now. Would be great to have somewhere local though!

It's been so many years since I have been there and have no idea who owns them but would Lynch Hill or Harwick park be any good, or the quary lakes between Eynsham and Oxford on the A40 by cassington?
