Just got hold of this new Earthboard (the other half thinks ive gone mad), & was wondering if anyone has any idea for the positioning of the bindings as there is no pre-drilled holes. Also its got some wedge type nylon packers for between the board & trucks & not sure if they need to go thick side to centre of board or thick side to the outside .

New to all this so any help would be great...!

Not sure about the binding position, gives you the chance to give yourself a custom riding position. Thats assuming that you have some idea of where they will be confortable for your own riding style. If not then, you could always look at other boards to see where abouts the bindings are positioned before drilling the holes.

The nylon risers will give you a few options for stability and turning cirlce of the board. Dunno what the angle of the deck is or, what trucks you have as these will all have an effect on the tuning.

With the thick ends towards the centre of the board you will give the trucks more of an angle to work on thus giving the board a smaller turning circle making the board more responsive on the turn. The other way around would give a larger turning cirlce (maybe huge if its a small angle deck with channel trucks) and offer a less responsive ride. There is always the option of leaving them off completely which would give you a turning circle somewhere in between. Without the risers would also give you an ever so slightly lower centre of gravity making for a more stable ride.

hope this helps a bit.

Cheers CeeJay... At least i know which way round to put the risers now. Ive tried it without & it didnt seem to turn much & also just tried fat edge forward & the same .. not much turn so it looks like its gonna have to be fat edge inwards. Its a 40inch deck so its pretty long to start with which is one of the reasons i bought it. I'll have a mess about on it & see whats gonna be the best position for the bindings before attacking it with the drill. Was trying to get hold of an old flexi kava but the loonys on ebay just bid them up far too high & have not been able to find any other boards with the same sort of length until this Earthboard turned up for a steal.

you stance can be found by jumping off a chair and measuring where your feet land.Do it few times and make sure the wifey is watching.Center of foot to center of foot is easy to work with.then try to layout the holes as symetrical as possible.

Its funny that your feet know where to go

Ive just been pondering this one & i think yer might have got it the wrong way round geeza...!

Assuming that putting risers in don't affect the way the trucks work. (someone correct me if i'm wrong please).

Thick end of wedge to the middle of the board will effectively make the axle centres further apart (larger turning circle)

Thin end of wedge to the middle of the board will effectively make the axle centres closer together (smaller turning circle)

I'm only working on the same principle i use for my bike so i might be wrong.

Ive just been playing about in the kitchen & i think i might have it sussed. I'll had a whizz round the car park tomorrow just to make sure before i attack it with the drill though.:D

found this URL that might help you to decide where to put your binding holes.

http://www.epyx.ca/boardsCDNearth.html

Dunno if yours are the same graphics but if they are it will give you a ball park location.:)

I notice you live in Blackpool, where abouts do you normally fly? I live just up the road.

LMAO...... Just found the same site & been gawping at it for the past hour trying to figure it out.

I usually fly at Lytham by the coast guard station where they used to do the sand yachting.

Wheels are banned on there though aren't they since the land yatching incident?

Its a very nice beach but I never fly there due to the restrictions in place.

Well........ If yer read all the info on all the sites about restrictions they all say buggies and sand-yachts are banned but i can't find anything that says boards are banned....! You do see the occasional board up there as there was las Sun & he was flying right in front of the Coast guard station & if i remember rightly the coast guard landrover was kicking about & drove right past the geeza without stopping .

The only thing i will say though is ive seen these guys before up there & where as I have a stroll out to get away from everyone, they fly a bit too close to the car park basically only 50yrds onto the beach.

Nobody seems to bother the odd boarder if yer take a stroll out a bit but these guys might start people moaning.
