alastairy2k Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Should add I've been out all over winter, last week was coldest with windchill of -4 deg c. I wear C-Skins thermal rashie and shorts, a 2mm short john over them and a 5/3 steamer over all that, gimp mask, 2mm gloves and 5mm boots - warm as you like. Quote
cave_raver Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Wear a snug wetsuit (meade to measure so warmer) 5,4,3mm. Full balaclava, gloves and boots. Thinking about a windproof but no need as yet. Mind you I've too busy or there's been no wind to go out the last month. And me with a new kite as well. Gutted! CR Quote
Tommy C Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Got back from Lligwy Bay about 2 hours ago. It was hailing and totally freezing. I questioned my motives for the first time this winter!! Looking forward to the wind switching back to Southerly! Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 I questioned my motives for the first time this winter!! Looking forward to the wind switching back to Southerly!when i get out of the water with my hands absolutely numb, my body aching and bruised, i'm in total agony but i know i'll do it again cause it 15 minutes i'll be toasty as hell with a hot cup of somthing watching the sun setting over the sea with the wind blowing - thats worth the pain:) Quote
hotnginger Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 lol- nice to see that some of you guys dont let the british weather stop your sport. Was just interested as I'm getting a guerilla in a week or two and want to progress to water (i've been atbing mainly). Didn't really know if a winter season existed or not. The main flow amongst you seems to be thick wetsuits although a few of you are wearing drysuits! I'll enjoy the summer season this year then I may have to invest in some warm weather gear for next winter if I get into it! Jono Quote
bucski Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 drysuits are the way to go in the winter, makes a huge difference, I can honestly say I don't get a bit cold when wearing mine, and mines a dead cheap one that's not even that good! Quote
8015 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Quite a few of us to be seen out in Scotland all year round. Drysuit does the biz for me! JIM Quote
