What do people use for stakes?

Football field watering system horror?

Basically when I'm out on my own. launches landings and walks of shame are a little hairy in reasonable wind. (plus the whole you do the walk of shame walk back to the handles and the kite has folded over on itself. grrr)

I "steal" the sand snake that the missus' made to keep mice from getting under the French doors. Works a treat, I just have to remember to replace the bloody thing when I'm done flying!

Here's a photo of the little beast doing domestic duty. It's perfect for holding down the trailing edge of the foil. Its round, sand filled body rolls easily off the kite as it takes off. It's also easy to pick the bugger up while flying and throw it over your shoulder or put the brakes on and chuck it in the pack. In a couple of cases I've placed the handles on the ground with the brakes on and chucked the snake on top of the handles while I jog for the kite.

I tend to do most my kiting on the beach and found using a wide sand tent peg that I bought from BCF (camping store) works a treat, brake lines back around peg and hook the pulley block to a carabena on the eye at the front. (think I need to add a pic) Also use the supplied sand bags that came with my PKD Buster, tip the sand out when your done, too easy!

Buffomarinus, that is EXACTLY what I was trying to describe if you put one of those on the trailing edge of your kite thats going to do it just fine for a solo launch, great for whacking rangers with too, no bruises! :)

I have just been using the heat pack that the wife made (Shhhhh don't let her know):secret:

I have told her that the dog ate it:yes3:

I think the sand snake is the go as you could also make us of it duing a 'low' wind session by tucking it in your jeans to impress the ladies :D

"great for whacking rangers with too, no bruises!" (rocket)

.................

Jeeeeze, I knew I should have patented the bloody thing!:D

Buffo.

Rocket I won't tell her if you don't. Bob thanks for the insight to the future of snakes but I only have one snake and that has been busy number 3 child in the oven. I love your quote Old Age and Treachery triumph over Youth and Skill. It's my mid life crisis can't aford the red car so got the red kite. It goes fast zooooooommmmm.

i use my empty beer stubbies!! by the time i am ready to launch i have a couple lying around :laugh1:

Not only is Baggsy being eco-friendly by using a device that doesn't produce greenhouse gases for power (a kite), but he's also a recycler too!

Hey mate, ya' want to run for parliament?:D

I love the snake ideah i have had some trouble myself when flying by myself. If you are stuck out on an oval without sand and no snake the best thing to do is lye yur kite with the wind and fold the vents back. Then all you have to do is get you bar and take 3 steps back and pull.

I really like the versitility of the snake though. You can hit the bastard dogs with it aswell.
