phil A Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Hey, any ideas why my new atom, fresh oout of the bag, wants to fly like a leaf ? when i launch, it immediately rolls left and assuming i get some height it flies only in the middle of the wind (hardly upwind at all) and then just flutters !! Whats going wrong ?? All suggestions gratefully received or the kite's in the bin Quote
dnahacker Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 sounds like a bridle issue to me either that or the wind was just too light to fly it...... Quote
Simon Bailey Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Phil A, I've had the same probs with my Atom. The only way I could cure it was to alter the bridle. Even then it seems that because it has no top spreader, when it "powers up" it alters the leading edge shape (making the nose angle sharper), which decreases it's stability. I got given a "2 line delta stunt kite" given away free by Viking Direct, and it flies 10 times better!! Quote
skiddo Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 lol, bugger. i bought one this afternoon... will report back later. hoping i haven't made a mistake! Quote
Bite the Bullet Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Sorry to hear some of you guys have had probs with your Atom I've only got praise for mine, flys straight and very responsive, could do with alittle more pull, but there is the Orbit and Pulsar for that! I do find that it does flys better in slightly stronger winds rather than the light stuff. All the best BtB. Quote
skiddo Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 flew mine for an hour last night - great fun and very responsive. well happy with my buy for sure. Quote
phil A Posted September 8, 2004 Author Report Posted September 8, 2004 Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll have a play with the rigging and persevere. Windy days to all !! Quote
crazee horse Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 ive just sent mine to flexi for repairs! done a spectacular crash sending the cross bar through both sides of the kite. mine only wants to fly in strong-ish winds, anything less than a steady 10mph and it houston we have a problem. some old dear said to me your lines are to long, i said to her yes but they dont wet the bed! i only bought mine to learn about how the wind works before i got another kite. good fun, and despite the fact i trashed it, it is surprisingly tough. im quite impressed;) Quote
