Ello all,

Got some of the best flying I've ever done last weekend, dragging through 4-6 foot high waves with only my toes holding me in the water(Did'nt know you could pull muscles in your toes!!:p ) and one thing that has me confused is this:

When hooked into ym harness the spreader bar rides up to just below my ribbs, it bloody hurts after an hour or two dragging and made it really hard to keep my balance trying to get on my board, anyone got any advice info on what I am doing wrong???

I am hooked, will not give up but just wondering if I have the right type of harness, it is supposed to be a Dakine seat harness ? but it just moves upward on my body!!

HELP !!!:o

I have a dakine fusion seat harness and if i strap it on tight there is not way that it can move up my body without cutting my balls off. The spreader bar moves a bit but not too much. It sounds like you need to tighten it up a bit once it is on.

Not sure about the Da Kine but some harnesses have an extra strap to hold the spreader bar down (a al the Maui Magic) you'd be surprised the amount of people who don't know what that extra strap is for:eek:

I've got a Dakine fusion and it has an eight point adjustment. I have to loosen it all to get it on but I'm able to tighten the straps to ensure that if the bar moves up then so do I. The only downside is that my pelvis felt slightly crushed at times in the high winds at the weekend but once leaning back it was okay.

After all that I think I need either a smaller harness or smaller spreader bar...

The harness is done up to the point where it is cutting off blood flow and the bar reaches both buckles.....

Ive got the Maui Magic dark rider and when I bought it I got no instructions with it and this was from new off an internet kite shop. To be honest I didnt know thats what the extra long strap was for when I first got it, the other straps are pretty straight forward. I had the same problem when flying the 8.5 blade the harness digging into my ribs. So decided to use this strap to hold the spreader down but as I say at the time I didnt know it was for.

With a piece of equipment as crucial as a harness full instructions and safety advice should be supplied, but they not always are!!!

Just eat loads of doughnuts and get fatter. it's probably cheaper :D

Does it have a windsurf style quick release? I used to have one like this (surf seat). You have to pull it really tight then a bit tighter. Mine used to ride up at first but then it was ok when I got the technique of tightening it right... not quite sure how i did this. I hear they can slip a bit when used for kitesurfing as they don't take jults as well as the power clips but I never found this.

I have the 04 Maui Magic aviator and have been told that the strap holds down the spreader bar but was not actually told how to do it .. the way i have been doing it is by going over the top if the 1st piece of the hook and then through the middle and down..... is this correct or should i be going over both pieces of the hook and then back down ? or are both of these incorrect as when i pull up the hook it seems to be no different when the strap is attatched than when it is not attatched .

I go over the top of both pieces of the hook / roller and make sure it it's tight otherwise as you say it will ride up HTH :) should come with better instructions as someone else has intimated;)

mine used to do this!

on the speed seat there is an extra stap on it that you can loop over the spreader bar. dont think it was designed for that but it stopped mine moving.

wrap it over about three times and it will still reach buckle clip

havnt got mine any more but i seem to remember its the last strap you do up

WAHOOOOOOO I no longer have this problem, thanks Mr Smith, You are right, there is one extra long strap, in the middle at the front, I always thought it looked a bit odd, looped it round the bar twice and bloody hell, it stopped moving, now I just get yanked around by the waist, not the ribbs.....

I also ate loads of donuts as well so this might have helped as well;)

Thanks all
