NEILH Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 I have a flexi buggy and was wondering if anyone else has a problem with the bolt that holds the front fork assemblyin coming loose after a few turns, there was no washer to fit but this may cure the problem, any thoughts out there?? Richy303 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Checked to make sure the bushes are pushed in all the way - the top and bottom one. There shouldn't be any gap between the stainless tube and the lip of the bush. hope this helps. Richy. Quote

If you plan on keeping it put together, I would Lock-Tight everything. You can get this stuff at any automotive hardware store. It solved my problem. Hope it will solve yours!!!!! Quote

Fork goes inside bushes and comes level with the top of the downtube, then a big stainless steel washer the full diameter of the stem and then bolt through - is it like that? I guess it must be or there is nothing to tighten it up to? If you do have that just tighten it up well and check the bushes as others have said. Quote

8015 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Not convinced about spring washers in the headstock, that's up to you. Most headstocks also seem to have a nylon washer to provide the steering resistance - it wont bind like steel so you can tighten right up on it to get the stiffness you prefer. The flexi does work a bit different to most though! As for wheel bolts, spring washers work some of the time but ask anyone who's had the left wheel spin off if they are 100% secure and they will tell you no! My race buggy now uses stub axles with nuts drilled and held with a split pin, no thread lock, no chance of coming off unintentionally. JIM Quote
