BenR Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 I've dropped the seat on my flexi buggy about 3" by tying it on to the tubes with parachute cord, instead of threading the loops through the side tubes. I had to bring the front tube in a bit, and you end up a lot more horizontal. The buggy seems very different machine now..... much harder to fall out of, and quicker to steer (possibly because my weight is nearer the back axle). Much more fun, and easy to change back if you want. On the down side, your elbows and hands are much closer to the wheels. Anybody else tried modifying the seat? Ben Quote
pyromunky Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Yeah but I did it accidentally! It made the seat alot further back but still kept the height much quicker to turn as you said and also easier to do 180's. I accidentally left the straps that go to the top of each side of the seat under the side frames meaning there is nothing to stop the seat going right back. Quote
Hopewell Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Apparently a PL XR seat fits rather nicely onto a flexi, puts you mor in, than ontop of the buggy, SB Quote

Jonny3.3blade Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Flexi seat mods I only brought my flexi 2002 on the idea of dropping the seat position by 2inchs by using a swan neck which i had fabricated but it was a idea of a fellow buggy mate who persurded me to go down this line and its worked im more of a straight line buggyer than a trick person but even lowered it goes on 2 wheels and u can do 360s and other stuff . But this idea has done the job for me and its still a standard buggy but with a swan neck i think it has a 4inch drop on it if anyones at wallop i will be there look for the dck camp or see me out buggying. Bill Benson Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I've been noticing most folks in our club have been sportin' backrests on their buggies which are handmade from plexi and nylon strap with a bit of padding attached. I haven't mounted one on mine yet, but they say the backrests help in going backwards and also take a bit of strain off the ole' lower vertabrae. Quote
cboshier Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 Bill from kite sports corner does a conversion for the seat, he'll be at middle wallop so anyone interested have a chat with him. Quote

HD462 Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 Apparently a PL XR seat fits rather nicely onto a flexi, puts you mor in, than ontop of the buggy, SB Yeah, my mate (Gretski on here), has the PL XR on his Flexi buggy. Seems to fit well, and lowers you quite a bit.... ...but it's a b*gger for us oldies to get back out of....lol Quote
Gretski Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 That would be me! Bought my Peter Lynn XR seat a few month's back, Fits on nicely! Lowers the Centre Of Gravity loads and makes the ride sooo much better! Only thing ive noticed is some stitching starting to fail, the straps which go over the top of the frame are stretched at an odd angle so they are coming away on one side. Should be easy to sort out tho! Quote
cboshier Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 Sounds interesting; what kind of conversion? I dunno, I've not seen one, I just made a different downtube, 4" wasn't enough for me so I went 8" in the end, that's got it nice and low and straightened up the rake so it turns quicker too:cool: . http://www.duck-designs.com/aerohydro/flexidowntube.jpg Quote
