newkiter Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Are there impact vest that also provide some buoyancy, My swimming is ok but I think I would feel happier with a little extra especially while learning and the kite doesn't always stay where I mean to put it!! Any Brand recomendations would be great Quote
kitesurfa Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Get a Crewsaver Ski Jacket - Bouyancy aid and impact vest in one. http://www.crewsaver.co.uk/crewsaver/webpics/50n/ski.gif http://www.crewsaver.co.uk Quote
newkiter Posted April 15, 2004 Author Report Posted April 15, 2004 Thanks, These look quite long do they interfer with the harness? Quote
Kite Guru Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Dakine do a impact vest with harness and I think they also do it stand alone. The other vest get in the way of your hook, because they are too long. The other option is looking out for a conoeing vest they are a bit higher. Which ever option you go for, take your harness with you. Quote
Jim_bob Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 I use a Neil Pryde impact vest, they're bouyant aswell as give real good protection. I wear a waist harness and the vest is perfect, just down to the spreader, it is longer at the back which goes nicely over the harness. Its a real nice and safe option. Quote
StuartRW Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 I'd second what Jim_bob said. I'm currently using a Neil Pryde Impact vest for wakeboarding, but have used it for kitesurfing as well (with a seat harness). It's super comfy and close fitting, with no long staps to get caught up in anything. Probably at the higher end of the price range, but well worth it. Quote

kitesurfa Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Thanks, These look quite long do they interfer with the harness? No, it works fine with my Bump&Jump Genius Seat Harness. Only looks long because of the top strap. Quote
