Sky-Blu Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 righto, think i know where you mean, they're building a new surgery a bit further up the hill (the old man is a doc in long stratton). shame about the restriction of school time, but long summer evenings could be a possiblity, do the whole relatives thing and get in some decent flying. what are the winds like there as its on a slope if i remember - dont want to drag the frenzys down then have a miserable time due to lumpy winds... Quote
lewis Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 nah the wind is usually good fresh wind Quote
Sky-Blu Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 huuummmmm, might crawl down when me ankle can take the strain again, although grass will be a novelty as i've been spoilt by living next to the coast and having lurvely hard sand to play on all the time cheers for the info, if im down there then i'll probably be one of the few flying frenzys so come over and say hi. take it easy Quote
Guest Nevermind Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Yeah i live at stratton and it is the only decent place south of norwich except for wymondham. How is ure ankle aaron? Hope to see you there Be As The CLoud Quote
Sky-Blu Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 batc: ankle is still in cast, but i'm having soem more scans on tuesday, hopefully freeing me from the cast and the start of load bearing and a few gentle steps in a 3d rocker. if its all well then might be back on the board in a few months if im lucky. sounds like a decent spot so will have a blast there when im jumping around again, might even let you have a play on the frenzys (seem to earn me a few friends....) The Vandall Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 ALL WYMONDHAM KITERS ALERT! The Ketts Park Community & Recreation Centre have BANNED all Carts for the twinter and want to charge us £50 each for use in the summer. Yesterday I was in Wymondham getting some practice in when an elderly gentleman came across and handed me this letter, ( I retyped it below). PLEASE READ THIS! To Kite/Cart Users Dear Sirs Due to the waterlogged condition of the ground at Ketts Park all activities by Kiting is prohibeitted until further notice. The committee felt that the ruts caused by your carts could cause injury to other users. Also that we have a serious drainage problem several thousand pounds have been spent to alleviate this, but major pipe laying is needed to carry excess water away. A notice will be put on the door of the hall when your act ivies may be resumed. At that time we will require to see a current third party insurance certificate specifically for your activity. On payment of £50.00 per annum we will grant a licence for you to use Ketts Park grounds. I would point out that although the ground is owned by Wymondham town council. It is administrated by the Ketts Park Community and Recreation Committee, who have the duty to see that these grounds are correctly used and maintained, and who have the right to charge any fee the deem correct. (He then has a go at golfers) David J Miller Chairman & Treasurer Ketts Park Community & Recreation Centre FIRST WE SCREAM! Now having got that out of my system. Start telling everyone we know who owns a kite. I do not have Ants contact details, so can someone tell him? Thoughts for a response: Ø Form a club and negotiate for a single fee Ø Maybe have a huge protest afternoon with 50 carts and a barbeque- music, dancing girls, etc. Ø It is understandable that they want us off for the winter and insurance, but the £50 is unreasoned – Ø The footballers do more damage Anyway, enough of my ranting My home email is r.Williams@freeuk.com, let me know what you think. deejaygee Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 To be honest if it was my local i'd be over the moon. yeah they want to make some money (to be fair though if the grounds as bad as they say they need it) but you have a guarenteed buggy / board site all for £50 a year. Now considering all the bans up and down the country I would feel very lucky. Be thankful DJG Quote
Sky-Blu Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 another spot closed for the winter then you're on a winner to start though as its not a total ban. it'll cost you £65 a summer to use the site (£15 for bbc insurance and £50 for them). another way of looking at it is that for me to get to hunstanton its either the bus or a lift (entailing fuel and big parking fee) so i end up spending a lot more than that every summer on kiting. its probably now reasonable to get ahold of the chap mentioned and get a small group of the most informed kites on the site to have a meeting. you ought to discuss lowering the fee and looking into the drainage problem ie. when are they going to sort it and will you be allowed back onto the site when its done. get organised and this may not be so bad Quote
