Will Holt Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 i wanted to know what the general view is on handles or bars on foil kites. I fly my bII and i have always favoured my bar over handles for conveneince and also harnessing in. What do you prefer and why? Quote
Alex Brown Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 i prefer my bar to handles, makes it alot easier for going along, harness, jumps, power etc i can now get grabs on my blade III 4m on bar and board, its great, also spins and toeside+blind riding is far easier! Quote
icanfly Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Ive only just changed over to bars since i bought a 15m cabrinha C02 to start kitesurfing, i found the change a bit wierd cos id never used a harness etc but now id never go back! I use the bar with a bullet 4.5 now and the difference is amazing, i find i can ride in alot stronger winds now which is great for big air! Quote
Guest RichC Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I prefer handles for buggying as they allow better control but I prefer a bar for Landboarding for airs and harnessing Quote
rasga Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 at the moment i use handles, and have seen some amazing moves pulled off on handles. Though shall soon be hopefuly giving a bar a whirl Quote
schmik1599968584 Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I prefer handles .... but i've never used a bar. Do the guys using a bar fly in 2 line or 4 line mode ? schmik Quote
Alex Brown Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 2 line mode, no tangles yet, easy packing and un packing, great amount of power and overall easier use than handels. alex Quote

Just asking as some home made 2 line safety systems do not work that great as if attached to one leader as in a 2 line LEI, you will still have half teh kit powered up due to teh brideling? Just a thoght Jon Quote
tom82 Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Could someone please tell me if you can do a 3/4-line setup with a flexi bullet? I bought my Bullet 4.5 on handles a while back, but have contemplated switching to a bar for boarding purposes ever since. (Also am planning to get a harness, which I'll use on the stronger days and with my next, bigger kite.) Does it matter what make/type of bar I buy? I mean, do I have to get a flexifoil bar to go with the bullet? And if I did, would it work with a kite like the Little Devil (which I'm thinking about as my next purpose)?? Thanks for help, guys! Tom. Quote
icanfly Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 When i said i use 2 line i meant that i dont use a cross over kit, i just fly on the front lines with the back lines really loose and attatched to my harness via a saftey leash so if i drop the bar / need to let go for what ever reason then i dont lose the kite and it depowers straight away. This works on the bullet no problem. Quote
rasga Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 yeah someone has noticed that goshen watts uses handles, also a rider some of you mauy have seen out and about >>Mark Lycett Info here Quote

And if I'm thinking of buying a second, more powerful kite in the future, would I be able to use the bar I buy for a bullet with it?? Cheers Tom. Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 you won't need a x-over kit on a bullet, they only have a useful effect on the slower blade 2's and perhaps the 10.5m blade 3 - my 8.5 is very quick to turn in a good breeze:) Quote
windy Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 that mark lycett guy looks real cool, considering hes using "old school" handles. tee hee. ;) Quote

Just a thoght Jon [/b] what????????? i have the two main lines, and a kite killer atached to a line which links the two main lines, when i let go of the bar one of the main lines effectively breaks in half and there is no power what so ever, its v good. its a wipika kite surf bar. i have one for sale for £40-50 ono, pm me alex brown Quote
schultzie1599968577 Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 yes it is correct that goshen does use handles, and we all know how good he is, i prefere handles to race with because u have more controll with the kite and when jumping you can send the kite back quicker and bring it back with more precision, i use arcs and naturally i have to use a bar but they are so fast as it is there isnt any need for any thing else, For the guy asking about a bar for the bullet you can purchace a bar for them all it does it attach your front lines to the out side for the bar and the rear lines to the middle via a short leader you want them so that they are just slack, i dont use my bar untill the kite is really starting to power up this is because it really needs the breaks to work, i might also suggest using a pully for the rear lines, have been meaning to try that with my bullet.
