Will Holt Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Having flown my blade and other people leis and other assorted kites. i want to move into kitesurfing which means that im gonna need to get a bigger kite. I was wondering wether to get an LEI or a water relaunchable ram air? Having crashed my bladei the water a few times i know that when its wet you tend to lose performance in the kite does this happen with water relaunchable foils. I would also be quite interested to find out how self drain Quote
Deviant Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 guerilla is what you want! You can use it on land to. it`s almost impossible to crash aswell which makes water relaunch a real rareity. Quote

I've heard this about the F-ARC, though if you do crash it it can be a bugger to relaunch. Certainly the Standard ARCs are extremely stable, and they tend to auto-zenith as well. I'd be hard pushed to choose between the ARCs and the Flysurfers though. Quote
Simon Bailey Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Windtech make both LEI and ram air kites for kite surfing. Saw one on Ebay, look ok, but never seen one http://www.windtech.co.uk/kitesurfing/kites.html Quote

kitesurfa Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 > I was wondering wether to get an LEI or a water relaunchable ram air? Ram-Air type... has a bigger wind range for each kite. I have been reading on other forums that Arcs will keep going when LEI's are falling out the sky. > Having crashed my bladei the water a few times i know that when its wet you tend to lose performance in the kite. You were able to relaunch ??? When my 4.5 kite hits the water - thats were it stays... until its dry enough to launch again. May be sooner if I had someone to help me launch though. Best way to dry a kite is to fly it... > does this happen with water relaunchable foils. NO kite is 100% re-launchable from water. Latest designs help with Auto Zenith feature, unless you are in a LE Dive because it wont turn the kite 180° and bring it back overhead. > would also be quite interested to find out how self drain Most have TE vents. either side. They are velco flaps which lets the water out when its flying also good for removing sand. Early G-Arc models didn't have these fitted, but it is a very easy mod you can do yourself. Quote
