RegentBaker Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Need an advice. Flysurfer pshycho 12.5m2 or Slingshot Fuel 17m2???????? Plz help me.... The most important is, that it can fly in low winds (8-12knots) and easy water relauchable... Need to know witch one to buy. Quote
freakien Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 You asking for it? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Quote
Tone Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 you want light wind performance and easy relaunch? its the Psycho then.... far easier to water launch! Quote
RegentBaker Posted December 10, 2003 Author Report Posted December 10, 2003 Tone have you tried Slingshot Fuel or any other tubekite? You got a Titan 15.5 right. What is the lowest windrange you can kitesurf in? I have a blade2 7.8m2 and i kitesurf best in 13-14knots ,i think. If ill buy a pshycho 12.5m2 what windrange is the best then? Is it difficult to jump with the Titan? Quote
bushflyer Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 relauchabitity, more punch per square metre, total depower abilty in an emergency...has to be a foil dude (but dont get me wrong LEI's haven their uses) Quote
the_lone_wolf Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 windbreakers?:D - thats what some guy on trebors wallop vid was doing:) Quote
bushflyer Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 and there was me trying to be nice...oooh you so bad;) Quote

Is it difficult to jump with the Titan? i havent flown a SS Fuel... i have flown a couple of LEI's. i can get up and going on my 156 TT wiht my 15.5 in about 8mph....10mph is good....12mph and i am lit up like a christmas tree!!! right Blades have ALOT more power per size than most other foils.... i have been down the coast and seen people fully powered up on 4.9 blades where i have been powered up ok with a 9.5 psycho... personally i would think that a 12.5 psycho would overlap your blade too much.... i find the titan easy to jump....the kite turns loads faster than the psycho... it doesnt have the same jump pull as the psycho but is alot more user friendly....it is deffinatly easier to relaunch... i never have the kite in the water for more than about a min....most times i am up and running in about 20 seconds. what are you looking for? a light wind kite? i thnik foils are the way forward for light winds! when it starts to get windy... the LEI wins... maybe this wont be this way for ever but at the moment it is the way... IMO. i cant wait to get a 12m lei. but i also cant think of anything better than blasting about in 12mph on a summers afternoon! Tony Quote
RegentBaker Posted December 10, 2003 Author Report Posted December 10, 2003 Yeah you maybe right it would overlap my blade. The thing is that i wanna travel far out from shore. And i dont deer that with my blade, because it wont lift from the water after it just touched it. Yeah you proboly right, the lei is more fun in stonger wind. The problem is , i live in sweden near denmark. so here is not very big/open sea with strong winds. In the summer is the usually windrange about 8-9mph between 11.00-16.00. It is not offen the wind is strong here in sweden. and when it is, its usually rains to. Im wondering what lei size i should buy? 19m2 lei has almost the same projekted area as the 12.5m2 psycho. hmm and the 19m2 lei is a very big kite and must turn slow as well as the 12.5 psycho,, maybe..or? The thing is that i got a very good offer for the psycho and slingshot. Quote
Tone Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 i think you should look into a 15.5 titan! you would be humming in light winds... i forgot to mention i am quite heavy! nearly 96kg.... so if you were lighter you would be able to get going way earlier! a friend of mine *carlos c* off this board was fully powered up on my 15.5 when NO ONE ELSE was out on the water .... even the 20m rhino 2's wernt going.... but he IS about 60kg.... i also use it to mountain board from about 2mph upwards.... it flies in really REALLY low winds.... of course it isnt the most fun to fly in 2mph.... but thats when it gets off the ground. i can hold it down in about 18mph any more and its a little TOO scary.... you want a light wind kite that is easy to water launch. you want a foil!! thats for sure! have you seen the vid of the titans realaunching??? i will have a look for it now and post the link! take care! skytigerer Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh die die die. ahem... i mean pleasse dont start this again! both are top notch kites. both are around the top of their fields... the psycho may have low end grunt and relauch, but the fuel will match the power, prob better it, but lose out on the relaunch... but win on speed and price... Rake Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 yeah and prepare to know how to trim a flysurfer for light winds. Jo macdonald in wwwkiteforum.com has loads of info, as has manfred from paraflysurf. do a search on kiteforum.com and yu will hear the lot ! Quote
Tim186 Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Tone there is no way that you weight nearly 96 Kgs, thats like 15 stone, you must weigh more than me if that was the case, i weigh near on 85Kgs and i can tell you that you do look alot lighter than me unless you have taken on the role of looking like the nutty professor i doubt very much that you are 96kgs (no offense to anyone), or are you???my guess is wrong calculations i forgot to mention i am quite heavy! nearly 96kg.... jelly man Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 im sure this question has been asked loads and im really sorry to hijack thread but. howcome we never see any pro riders on flysurfers or peterlynn stuff the only rider i know of is stefan cook i think this is a shame cos i know the arcs are great kites as my mate has one and that flysurfers cant be too bad either as everyone always raves on about them . i think it would make my day too look in a mag and then look at results for a bksa comp amd then read that one of the guys/gals was on a flysurfer or guerilla. also they should do more photo shoots of there riders doing some of the newharcore moves kiteloops/handle passes (i know the flysurfer guys can do them) i reckon if they did this then people would realise more the gret potential of these kites. any comment would be great peace out joe...... Tim186 Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 i agree totally with you there jellyman Quote
kitebuzz Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 i really don't know but this is just a guess. Peter Lynn are based in newzeland i think so i guess that they dont sponser anyone out here so the dont get riddent. There were some riders riding G-arcs at windfest. Flysurfer was on the cover of kiteboards in augest. Quote
jelly man Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 hmm yeah but slingshot are based in the gorge yet they get there face ll over everything and peterlynn must have a main uk distributor they could do it for peterlynn. plus only flexifoil is based in uk and all the other companies have an international team. i think if they were promoted a bit more efficiently the loads more people would be interested in them Quote
mgs Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 The future is with the foil kite.I will find this article in one of my kite mags.Rob from Ozone,Peter Lynn and Robert Graham for Advance kites gives their opinion of the foil V LEI, On the beach I compared the power output from my 6.6m Blade 3 and a C02 12m LEI.The Blade power output was huge compare with the LEI... jelly man Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 cool where was this article can you post it up here Quote
AliB Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 mgs u probably feel like there is more power because you cannot depower it u are on full power ALL the time. ever thought how hard it wud be riding a 12m lei on handles Quote
mgs Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 I fly my Blade 3's using a Maui Magic 80 cm bar and connect the brake bridle to the power bridle and take off and land on the edge of the window. The 12m Cabrinha C02 and my Blade 6.6M were compared when they were flying overhead. The static pull was far greater with the Blade. But lets face it they are very different kites in design and performance.I'm sure there is a calcuation somewhere that would explain all this. I have found the article on foils. Its in the Kiteworld mag issue 03 Jan-Mar 03 page 82 -83.Its an article written by Chris Calthrop in which Peter Lynn ,Rob Whittal of Ozone kites and Robert Graham of Advance kites give their views on foils and LEI's.It makes good reading.I will see what I can do. I would say the of choice foils for kitesurfing is very good and on the increase .Here's the list that I'm aware of,but there could well be more .Advance Diablo,Ozone Frenzy,Flexifoil Blades,Flysurfers,Peter Lynn... If Flexifoil made a Blade that was depowerable and may be water relaunchable, they would do well. Quote

mgs Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Having problems uploading an article on foils as its to big.I may have to type it all out.... Quote
