meatloaf Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Hey guys, Im considering a medium size kite for buggying and landboarding (4 to 5m ), but stuck between blade 3 (4.9) on handles or bullet,(4.5) on a bar Am i right in thinking the blade has more lift for boarding How would a 4.5 bullet perform on a bar?/ im a thin 14.5 stone!!!! Meat:confused: Quote
Man_in_UK Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 I'm no expert but I feel the answer you are gonna get is along the lines of ............................... The Bullet is ideal for a buggy as it dont generate too much lift. The Blade has bags of lift and will help you out on a landboard. I'm no expert ....... but you will get a lot more helpfull answers than this one... we hope. Quote
rjw Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 i would say, as a bullet and blade flyer who landboards that in the long run the blade is probably the way to go because it does generate enough lift to get air on the board. The bullet will not generate enough lift to get air, unless it is blowing a hurricane. however, as someone who had to teach themself due to a lack of other boarders where i live i would say a bullet is much better for learning on because it produces minimal lift. its bad enough learning to stand on the board, fly the kite properly and steer all for the first time, without worrying about the thing picking you up. A 4.5m bullet will produce plenty of power for the actual traction bit but will be far more comfortable for learning on. then when you are ready buy a blade or another high lift kite and start nailing the jumps, but you need to get the knack of the boarding to the point where it is nearly instinctive first. i think hwat i am trying to say is buy abullet first, learn to board/buggy and then by something to get properly mashed with. hope this helps rjw Quote
rjw Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 sorry for everyone board (get it) by the last thread but i didn't even mention handles or bar. My blade came with hadles and the bullet with a bar. observations: handles give more overall control of the kite because they enable the use of the brakes, makes landing and tethering down and launching a whole lot easier, because the flexi bars have the brakes rigged through the centre of the bar to a single brake/kitekiller. haveing said that. flying on a bar is nice, not a lot of effort to use as the bar does most of the work but the bullet is a pig to control on landings and take off in a lot of wind with the bar, have since rigged handle on it. try before you buy. handles don't cost anything either which has to be a plus. rjw Quote
