wow.

i fly a 6.4b2

i weigh nearly 15stone. and in anything above 20 i get hoisted.

there is a limit to what you can fly a kite in, and it is normally your weight.

i have had my biggest jump in what i am guessing was a 25+mph gust. and that was over 30ft vert. you weigh 67kg and your saying that you can hold down a 9m blade in 20+

either you are not 67kg or it wasnt 20+

no offence ment. but i smell bull sh!t

agreed.

im what you'd call ' a thirteen stone weakling' (i'm off diet restriction now i'm out of hospital - YES! ) and me and two other ' thirteen stone weaklings were hoisted clean off the ground by a blade II 6.4 in a 25 mph gust. unless you've discovered how to control gravity, i suggest you fill that handbag with some of that cr*p you're spouting...

now look what you've done, i've ruffled my dress;) ;)

Geez, i must be doing it all wrong. I'm 85kg and I get hoisted big time in 20knot gusts with a blade 4.9. 12 foot up and ****ting myself.

I'm getting very sick of all of the bull durnham. It gives the wrong idea to impressionable types!

My friend is about 65kg and I nearly lost him into the stratosphere in the same gusty conditions.

To Mr 9m in 20mph ..... you'd better wipe your mouth, there is still a bit of sh1t on your lips.

i think tour all missin the point. the kid wanted to no if he can hold a 9m blade in ONE-FOUR MPH WINDS!!!!!!!!! not 20mph+

i have a 15.5 mr ar5 and i can hold dat in quite strong winds and im 11 stone dose that make me stupid? NO! if you have the balls and the exsperience to use a big kite in medium 3winds you go do it jus take precautions if your over powered put the kite down! i agree with bottom you think you can handle it fine go try it on ur own risk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't "the kid" that everyone was having a chew at. (He as however asked a daft question). If he is ready for a blade 9, he should not need to ask if it will give him air.

What folk don't want are irresponsable flyers dragging the sport though the gutter. I am sure we all recognise them on the beach and on the forum!

Being a total newbie, i can only throw up what ive herd others say, but its always best to try befor you buy. It doesnt have to be as big as a 9m, but try to find someone (brave) to let you have a go on a larger wing. your viper is a buggy kite, so pulles insted of lifts, the same as my bullet. ive no idea how the strong lift of a blade would affect the flight but its always best to go into a situation with both eyes open. Any big kite can be deadly. be careful.

But, apart from that, happy kiteihng!:)

Howzit Guys,

I just wanted to come here and clarefy a few things:

1. For all those who don't believe "bottom", your wrong, I was there, I also flew the 9m in the same wind and did a few fairly big airs. He is telling the truth, 9m Blade II 25mph ish wind, and I think his second weight was correct. He did get an air of about 6-8m when a strong gust came. + We are not irrisponsible flyers, the field was fairly empty and there was never any risk to anyone except himself.

2. On the same day I flew my 7.2m Advanced offroad, power was immense, but controlable.

In the end I think it is down to the individual flyer wether or not he flies on a specific day, as long as there is not risk to anyone but himself

Cheers

boo hoo.

Look back at the thread! it seems that the thought police are out there and are logged on to this forum! Poor old bottom got his ass kicked on the internet for putting up a post about his kite antics.

The backflip video was hot stuff on this site not so long ago and the backflip'er' was hailed a hero and a nutter all in the same breath.

It seems to me that kite manufacturers are building these flying wings to do all sorts of things, and jumping is an enivitable consequence of the product available. It would be like having a Ferrari and only ever driving on thr speed limit. AS IF thats gonna happen. Everybody who speeds breaks the law and would probably agree its dangerous and stupid, but we all do it. Likewise people have different tolerances to the risks they take. So same for kites.

I'm not trying to fly in the face of safety advice because that is stupid. What I am saying though is cut the kid some slack. I done some wild stunts on my mountain bike as a teenager, it scares me now to think back at what I considered "safe". So be cool people, one mans garbage is another mans dinner:rolleyes:

yeah the only difficulty i have ever had with my blade in what ever wind is aching arms after 30 seconds, since gettin a harness its soo much easier, i never jump with the harness tho

popeye incarnate

or is it pinoccchio?

i will.

but i think it is wrong to say that someone can hold down that much kite... on a board that new people might read....

what if someone reads this and thinks they can hold down a 9m in 20mph? and the resulting injury/death means we dont fly kites anymore...

then i know who to hunt down.

Alrite newbies, Do not fly your blade 9 or any other powerful kite in winds over lets say 10 mph.

they wouldnt ban it from a death or injury, mainly because people die i other sports(ie: mountain biking) from fallin off and breaking necks and they have not been stopped.
