Guest Albert Posted February 8, 2003 Report Posted February 8, 2003 I just bought a Strom 10 for €750 in Cork, Ireland. I am new to Kite Surfing, but have been buggying for the while. Are there any other Kite Surfers on this forum based in Cork. I know Killbrittain (Harbour View), Red Strand and Inchydoney are suitable locations for kiting. If anyone is out there then let me know. Moonshiner Posted February 8, 2003 Report Posted February 8, 2003 Welcome Albert I'm Brain, from Wexford. We need more Irish on this form. Cos I don't have a clue where the places some of these people go on about are. I'm trying to get into kitesurfing as well, there a guy in Dublin I got lessons from. I think there a good idea. There web site is http://www.kitesurfinireland.com if you want it. Are there good kite shops in cork? And are many people flying down there? Quote
Guest Albert Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Hi Brian, I know about KiteSurfinIreland.com. It's Brian Rhatigan. I have spoken to him before and have a link to his site on www.kiteireland.com The only shop in Cork selling power kites is Tubes in Matthews. Very limited range, but maybe if the demand picks up they may get in more stuff. If you asked me two weeks ago if there were many people then I owuld have said no, but over the past two weekends I have meet about a dozen people who either Kite Surf or are getting into it. The main beach is Inchydoney outside Clonakilty. Also, Harbour View outside Killbrittan, Again, I have them listed on the website. Up until now I have been buggying, so the move to Kite Surfing I hope isn't going to be too painfull. I was out in Sunday with the kite. LIght winds, but I still think the kite was set up incorrectly as it was near impossible to launch. A friend of mine had his FreeAir 7.9 up no problems, but the Storm 10 would not launch at the edge of the wind, but we did launch it in the wind window (I know this is NOT a good thing to do, but the wind was VERY light and there were 3 of us managing the kite for the launch) Albert --------- Kite Bag NPW5 4.8 NPW9 3.4 Skytiger 26 Firebee 3m Firebee 4m Firebee 5.5m Storm 10 Quote

Moonshiner Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Were you on the the news or anything? Albert: I have a pro 8 and always launch it in the middle of the window and I'm still here. In light winds it's the only way. Quote
Guest Albert Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 Moonshiner. Not on the News (that I know of) I run .www.kiteireland.com which has been mentioned in a few kiting magazines and stuff. Based on current traffic I expect it will get about 40,000 visitors this year. If the Pro 8 is the Proteam 8 then this is 1.5 sq.m flat while the Stom 10 is 10 sq.m So the Storm is about 6 times bigger Quote
Moonshiner Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 I have seen your site a copual of times, Very nice. About the size difference I'm getting kitesurfing lessons with Gareth in Dublin, takes a little while to get use to the power increse. Quote
