gwenissia Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Now that they have banned Kites down at the Shorham Aldur Rec ground ( to be fair it is five hundred yards from an airfield) any one got some recomendations for buggying sites around Brighton. I Know the likes of Camber Sands etc and there is a great site in Gosport that i was at on Saturday but just trying to find somewhere a little closer to home with less travel involved. Quote
pauljarvis Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 There is somewhere I have been told about on the London Road just north of Brighton but I never went there and cannot remember anything else :-( I am interested in the place you mention at Gosport as I am about 45 minutes closer to there than you. There is the area at Port Solent which I keep meaning to try but it is very wet at the moment. Quote
gwenissia Posted February 4, 2003 Author Report Posted February 4, 2003 I was at the place on the London Road on Sunday. It is a fairly large area but surrounded by hills so that the wind is really dirty and gusty. There are also 8 sets of goal posts to deal with and 3 cricket wickets marked off with poles and rope to avoid so not entierly an ideal location. As for Gosport i'm afraid i don't know the area really well so could not point it out myself but will get my friend who lives near there to give me some multimap coordinates which i shall send you. It might be the same area that you are tinking of. It is right on the coast so really clean air, the ground was a bit water logged but only on one of the fields and the guys buggying on it seemed to love it even more as it made doing the spins alot easyer!! pauljarvis Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Thanks, map would be great. Just thought you could try climping. Park in the car p[ark just past Littlehampton golf club. Very long but nott too deep so only works 1.5 to 2 hours either side of low tide and a dead on shore or off shore wind (north or south) Sand a bit soft at the estuary end but soon hardens up Quote
Pugsleythefirst Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Ive started using a field at the bottom of Cissbury Ring in Worthing. Its uphill and a little bumpy but I was there on Sunday and it was ok. There is also Devil's Dyke (not been there yet) and Goring Gap. Does anyone know anywhere else locally? Quote
gwenissia Posted February 5, 2003 Author Report Posted February 5, 2003 Is there actually anywhere flat at Devils Dyke? I have flow kites there before and it is good in that there is always a wind, but all the fields that i can see there are on very steep hills. Quote
