tarlach Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 I was wonderin if i could use this wit the blade because its basically the same as the vps?? Quote
spooky Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Hi, yes you can use a storm bar with a Blade (just like you can use any bar). The only real difference between the Storm Bar and the VPS bar i sthat teh bit in th emiddle is different. VPS has a pully to allow the main lines to be pulled, where as the storm does not, also the storm has a depower starp so you can pre-set the amount of depower. To use a bar, just attach the lines to teh leaders and teh other end to both the main and brale toggles and you are away? What size Blade you flying? You will hear different advice on the length of the bar to use, but dont go to short. Unlike LEI kites where you can get away with a shortish bar as the yturn on the rear lines, but on a foil which turns on the main lines, a short bar is hard work especially if you have to work the kite? Go for something around 60/65 should cover you up to a 6.4? Remeber you can always reduce the turning ability of a long bar, but you can not increas it on a short bar? Have fun, Jon Quote
tarlach Posted January 28, 2003 Author Report Posted January 28, 2003 4.9 its for moutainboardin when my arms get tired itr is guite a big bar i got it today with my storm 12m:D Sorry but ur message is confusing wat do you mean 1 main 2 1 leader and 1 to thge other and the brakes in the middle or..... vica versa Tarlach Quote
spooky Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Hi Tarlach , What I ment was just set it up as a two line bar. Just attach the main line (from your quad set up?) to the leader on the bar tip and then attach it to BOTH the Main and Brake bridle toggels. Then do the same to the other side. If you wish to have some form of braking, you can attach the main line sto the outside as above but only connect them to the main bridle toggels on the kite. Then attach the brake lines to the center depower strop, some people use a single line to a V line then attch to the brake bridles, but if already set up for 4 lines this is easier. You then fly this just like a two line set up, just that if you push the bar way/let go the brakes will be applied? Have tried attaching the main to the centre and brake to the outside, but this does not work very well. First of all when you turn you are turning on th ebrakes on, which is not the bet method, 2nd when you do turn the main lines go slack on one side and the kite can spin backwards (ie it pivots round teh opposite side, sorry hard to expalin) but end result is **** turning and no power at best. Also as teh mains are now attached to the center strop, to depower you have the bar pushed away, which is an uncomfotable rideing postion, and you have to pull in to brake/reverse the kite. Which means if you wipe out and let go the kite powers along etc. Best bet for bars is either the 2 line option, as it flies best lie this, less drag and simple operation. Or if you want some braking/reverse launch ability go for the 3 line set up. No real need for a TAK (turn acclerator kit) on a 4.9 as it turns just fine, especially on a bar above 60cm. Have fun, Jon Quote
