Andy C Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Right I am as fickle as they come, and having just bought a brand new Blunt I have decided I would prefer the old one! The new one apparently has a number of improvements in build quality, ride and durability over the old one but being a streak of piss myself I was really looking forward to the super light board. The new Blunt is still a light board but not as light as the original due to stronger build. My new Blunt has been ridden once only so is immaculate. I'm after swapping board only so keep fins and pads / straps / handle. The board to swap with would need to be in very good condition. I don't want any money apart from maybe £10-15 for delivery of my board. By the way it must be a 130 x 40.5! So that's it really. If you fancy a free upgrade give me a shout! Andrew Quote
Bigbud Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Or you could just flog it and get a new SU2 pro board that's still made in the same factory Quote
Andy C Posted August 3, 2010 Author Report Posted August 3, 2010 Sorry still think the Blunts are probably better boards, might well be wrong but it's a Blunt or nowt for me! I'm just very fickle and never happy! Quote

Bigbud Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Have you even ridden the old blunt or the SU2 ? You hadn't ridden or even seen the new one yet you assumed it would be better than the old blunt and SU2 ! Your more than welcome to try it out, Tom got on my SU2 on Saturday although under powered Anyway good deal here for someone who wants a new board Quote
Bigbud Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Not anymore they aint:p The Su2 is still made in the same factory who made the "old lighter blunt" no ?? Quote
Andy C Posted August 3, 2010 Author Report Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) I never inferred that my opinions and / or decisions were logical...! To be fair once you're on the water it's difficult to tell a difference between the weight of boards, I'll probably change my mind like I did when I thought about getting rid of my Vegas...! Call me a traditionalist too but I still kind of disapprove of the whole stealing the design thing, just to open the can of worms again.... Edited August 3, 2010 by Andy C Quote

Call me a traditionalist too but I still kind of disapprove of the whole stealing the design thing, just to open the can of worms again.... LOL its your thread fella you can do what you want. I really can't see them stealing the design thou, surely wainman would have been over over it ranting, raving & sueing. Never seen one of the reps ever say "yes they stole it" ( Go on darryl set the record straight) More likely Wainman license or paid them to use the design. Until Wainman or SU2 come out and say then its just all speculation init Anyway dude hope you get sorted one way or the other they are good boards Jim Quote
Andy C Posted August 3, 2010 Author Report Posted August 3, 2010 Probably true, unless there are lawsuits quietly rumbling on under the radar... Man, work is quiet today! Quote
darrylpretorius Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 The Su2 is still made in the same factory who made the "old lighter blunt" no ?? Same factory that produced the old Blunt, yes. Sorry I thought you meant they were producing the new boards. Andy I replied to you on the kiteboarder forum saying: Mate get in touch with Phil (Rossall on here), I know he has both the old and new Blunt in the 130. He may help you out. But really there isn’t much difference in the weight dude. Few hundred grams if that. Maybe arrange to try the old one and see how you get on before committing to a swap, but if I were you I’d hang on to the new one. As for the whole design theft... I think its pretty difficult to accuse a company of stealing a design in this sport. Unless you have a product that has a uniqueness about it that is patentable you've got no chance. Its all about innovation, and if people think that Wainman is coming up with new and innovative products that other companies might like to follow and that customers are stoked with the gear, then they're doing a fantastic job. Well dodged So was the blunt an Su2 design or Wainman ? I really only ask out of interest and have no affiliation to Su2 other than having one of there boards, the shape of the board is unique to the two board thou isn't it ! I've not seen anything similar at all. Quote
darrylpretorius Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Yeah I've not seen any other boards with the same layout yet. But we are nearing the time of year when all the manufacturers will be releasing their new kit. I’m pretty sure no brand wants to copy another’s design, but it’ll be interesting to see if anyone else tries something similar or to improve on it. I’m looking forward to the reaction towards the Wainman Joke once enough people see it. That’s something pretty damn special there... Quote
Andy C Posted August 3, 2010 Author Report Posted August 3, 2010 Wow I really started something here! Probably going to change my mind anyway knowing me as I do.... Quote
