Spike J Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 This fantastic bit of software turns your phone into a wifi hotspot so you connect your laptop or iPad to the net, just put it on my E71 and my iPad connected straight to it, who needs a 3G iPad and another contract, only €5 this weekend! http://http://www.joikushop.com/index.php?action=products&mode=advancedSearch&type=free_text Quote
The Geoff Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Tethering? Yup, it definitely exists. And always remember that if you open up a net connection like that you're legally responsible for whatever goes through it, even if somebody else is using it. EDIT: Sorry, that sounds like I'm being all harsh and that, it's just that this is a standard software protocol and can be misused by company X, Y or Z as they see fit, and if they do it's your problem. How does this differ from wifi at home? Folk could just as easy hack in to my wireless network at home, sitting outside my house with a laptop or whatever and download or missuse the conection just as easy as hacking into my phone when I open the conection on that. There are lts of "wifi hotspots" all over the place, they must be at great risk of being missused?. Quote

It doesn't - I was just mentioning it because it's more likely to happen in a cafe surrounded by people with laptops than it is sat at home in the house....well, mine anyway. Quote
marman Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 any idea when its being released offically. Nope, But if your phone is rooted there are Apps built into Roms on 2.1 that do the same thing... again free Quote
