Spyke Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Going to Nyali beach next week, taking the 16, 11 and 9 C's for definate, any point in taking the 7m or does the wind never get up that high? Taaa Quote
North Wind Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 I was there for 10 days. Never used anything smaller than a 10m. Try Luke Whiteside and Dave Rimmer, each of them did a whole season at Nyali. Quote
Sammy1599968740 Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Let us know what its like? Parents are moving to Zambia in the summer so i might visit them via mombasa. Quote
POT BELLY Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Be good to know how you get on, I'm going in July/August and will take my 9-12 and 16, if Egypt is anything to go by that should do me fine. Quote
harry_a Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) this time of year... if you have a 9 i think you'll be fine. they have hairdryer winds out there i went over new years last year and only took my 15, and there were days where it felt like 20 but i was holding it fine. 9 as your smallest should be fine. youll most likely be on the 16/11 most of the time from my experience Edited February 22, 2010 by harry_a Quote
lucie8uk Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Yer, I was there around this time of year two years ago. Never took my 7 out of the bag, and I was a mere slip of a girl back then. Was out on my 11m most of the time, and borrowed a bigger board and a 13m quite often too. Quote
Spyke Posted February 25, 2010 Author Report Posted February 25, 2010 sweet cheers guys, the 9m is good for 30knotts British wind so sounds like the 7m wont be needed out there! Quote
RichieRipz Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 I did a four month stretch out there, and didn't ride anything smaller than a 10m. 7m not required. Have a good one, and cram as much mango in as you can! Quote
Spyke Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 Sammy.... Nyali was an awesome place, we were a bit unlucky with the wind, the guys said the season was strange this year and ended about 3weeks earlier then normal, so we had 3 days on the 16m's all week. They said that normally it is blowing almost all day every day at this time of year. They did however have every single day on the water in January on 7m's and 10m's, which was suprising to hear given what people said on here about taking a 7m out there haha. The spot outside the Prosurf centre was very small chop, they had a slider which was good fun as i have never used one before! But if we went again (which we almost definatly will) we would time it right with the tides so we can get the low tide at about midday and can kitesurf outside the Voyager hotel (which was one of the best hotels i have stayed in!) where it was sooooo flat!! The water is epicly warm, like a bath in the shallows, and although very pushy to buy keyrings and other wooden animals the locals are all nice and friendly and seem to love kitesurfing. A group of them were out in the water and were egging me on to jump them and i had a crowd of about 30 people in the water by the slider shouting all kinds of encouragement in some kind of Kenyan language. And if like us you dont get wind, go on Safari, that was also pretty amazing and we were lucky enough to see every animal we could have seen very close up! Now i just need to buy a bigger board, some boots and find somewhere in the uk with a slider....addicted!!! Edit: Was also told by a british guy out there that its worth trying Che..something... Diani and Galu Galu as they are even better spots! Quote
Antigrav Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Are you gonna come down for the student nationals the weekend after next george? We've got 2 sliders coming down as a light wind alternative, but if there does turn out to be wind I'm going to try and get them installed in a lagoon just up the coast which we can session at low tide in the afternoon. You're welcome to have a go on my board and boots for hitting them if it does happen Quote
Spyke Posted March 10, 2010 Author Report Posted March 10, 2010 Yea bro should definatly be coming!! Coming down this weekend too, not bringing the kites but might see you out on the lash! Quote
