:D This is going to be hard to explain so if its not understandable sorry, basicly i want to get into board ofs and foot outs, i feel like i should be using my right hand to make the grab but ime always using that hand to redirect because all my jumps are when ime traveling right, ive spent a while whatching other flyers and it looks like all there jumps are to the left, i think i have slowly genarated a bad jumping habbit because when i jump on my left i naturally rotate. how do i teach myself to jump when ime travveling left, That probs diddnt make any sence atall but i dunno how else to explain it

ok use your LEFT hand on the RIGHT hand side of the bar, and use your RIGHT hand to do the grab. works a treat, i sometimes still do it.

you may find it esier to put your left hand behind the depower rope and then onto the righthand side of the bar. so with your palm facing you. or you may not and just have your hand normally holding on.

Oooooooor, just teach yourself to jump both ways. Whenever I learn something new I always try and learn it 'switch' too just cause I prefer to have either option. And I think it makes you a better kiter

Having said that, I've spent so long practicing stuff on the water on my right (switch) foot that now I'm actually more comfortable doing pretty much all my tricks that way! Methinks maybe I took it a bit too far!

I agree, i am regualar, but after spending too much time learning tricks in switch (goofy) i am now more comfortable doing everyhting in goofy. i think you can over learn stuff. not kiting but my freind who i play rugby with, could only pass off his right hand side, so he spent 2 weeks passing off his left and now he can pass really well off his left and poorly off his right.

so over all when you are learning tricks, try and do them a equal amount both ways.

yes practice, practice, practice.... then don't think about if your riding switch or not.

i forget half the time what is my Good or Bad side. infact i've done my fastest speeds and biggest jumps riding switch.....

I think its your spelling that needs practise :p

But as said its all about doing things in equal measures and unless your a pro rider I doubt there are many people that can do every trick both ways just as well.

The main reason for unintentional rotations I've found is that you push off to hard with one leg or the other. I found when I first started jumping every jump to my right was going into a rotation and found that pushing off equally on both feet helped stop this effect.

Swapping hands on the bar for tricks is very common and is the only way I can do a running starts and that trick where you do a foot out throw the board up swing your leg all the way around the board catch it and get your foot back in the binding. Plus a couple more.

i still have that problem when jumping to the right but not every time now - its like i know what i'm doing wrong but just need to practice (thats how ya spell it Lee:p ) and sometimes if i switch hands an inadvertant kiteloop follows:eek:

try to keep your shoulders back a bit when you push off for the jump. throwing your lead shoulder a little can start a slow spin along with the leg pushing. try and keep yourself square on with the kite and you wont starty spinning as you take off. makes good practice for the water too where its better to start the rotation after the initial pop.

i like to do the grabbing for foot outs with my leading hand, so after ive sent the kite back i grab the front side of the bar about halfway along. your aiming for a smooth steady redirect with a nice second lift, you'll know the feeling when you get it. this can eihter be one smooth motion or a smooth pull followed by a bit extra at the end. depends on the kite and conditions. if you're flying an SLE keep the leading hand closer to the centre of the bar to avoid unintentional looping.

on my weak side i exaggerate the movement to help build the muscle memory. feels like too much at first but it helps compensate on your 'awkward' side. hope that helps.
