Zippy Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 What a race It all worked out for our home town lad Congratulations to him. Shame for Rubens but thats his luck. Quote
abba Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Rubens can't drive in traffic... that was proved today He also over did it with Hamilton... ending in a puncture Fully deserved championship Now its down to my FF1 account... currently 6th in the world few points from Hamilton, Button, and Rubens... so all good:D Quote
-Olly- Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 yeah was an awsome race, rubens was just really unlucky its impressive how a team that came together not logn before the start of the season wins both constructors championship and drivers championship, whilst havigna fairly poor middle of season congrats jenson and brawn Quote
abba Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Just saw Brawn come close to breaking down on TV What an achievement! Quote
The Geoff Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 I was working till six, so I was desperately trying to avoid hearing the result until it was out on iPlayer, but then a split second flicking through BBC News ruined it for me Still, fantastic result for a team and driver who fully deserve it Quote
Zippy Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 Ross Brawn is probably the best engineer of formula1 there has ever been IMO. He deserves the championship and proves yet again he knows what he is doing for sure. Well done to Webber as well he did a good job and deserves some praise, as do Vettel and Hamilton for doing so well starting near the back of the field! Quote
Zippy Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 I think I an going to have to go down town and see how our home town is celebrating it I sincerely hope our tight fisted council sorts out an opentop bus for him to parade around the town for us!! Maybe a bit much to ask Now Frome is well and truly on the map Quote

HOUSE Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Way to go Jenson..............!! Really deserves it and drove a brilliant race. Fantastic achievement for Brawn. I liked the commentators bit about the Brawn CEO hiding behind the tyres as he couldn't bear to watch the last few laps....... A great British moment..............we could do with a few more Quote
boat man Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 i suspect the pubs are going to be filled with the brawn workers from the base in our town i havent dared going into town tonight Quote
Zippy Posted October 19, 2009 Author Report Posted October 19, 2009 Do you reckon he'd even come back 'home' Terry? YES! is my deffinate answer Jon. Jenson comes home regularly. He doesnt forget what made him. He often visits his old schools and gives talks to the kids, he also regularly visits the new pub on the Frome bypass, named after him... 'The Frome Flyer' if you care to visit I have every belief he will if it is organised and it would deffinately go down well. The pub was alive tonight. I have a short recording I will try and upload asap from my phone which was sang in his honour.... 'We are the champions' as he sang on the radio to his team after knowing he clinched the championship. The man really does know who made him, and never forget them. He is a worthy champion in my eyes As is Ross Brawn. Quote
Zippy Posted October 19, 2009 Author Report Posted October 19, 2009 Do you reckon he'd even come back 'home' Terry? Jenson regularly comes 'home' to Frome Jon. He often visits his old schools and the new pub named after him... 'The Frome Flyer' On the bypass round Frome. I would like to think some of his success is due to the support he has had from from the town and he will return to show us his gratitude. Did you notice he sang 'WE are the champions' on the radio after the race. He knows that he couldnt of done it without his team. Quote
Taunton Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Kewl, pm me if you here anything. Would like to be there :-) Quote
abba Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Kewl, pm me if you here anything. Would like to be there :-) As i said above... would love to be there... so a PM would be appreciated:) Jenson is a likeable guy... And Lewis just never got the hype after becoming champion Lets hope the Brawn team do well at the sports personality this year My betting is Cricket will get the team award though:o Ross deserves recognition for what he's achieved, with Ferrari, Honda, and now he has his name above the Garage 1, 2 in Abu Dabi will be sweet... as Button said yesterday... its like some sort of F1 film:rolleyes: Quote
braddels Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 im hoping jenson gets a big raise now. he deffinatley deserved the championship, it proves he is a great driver and all he ever needed was a good car and a good team to do it. lets see what happens next yer, i wonder if brawn will still do well. i havent seen the race yet as i was hungover all day yesterday so ill be watching the highlights on iplayer tomorrow. well deserved win imo, hopefully he can do it again.
