m.klinge Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Hiya So i was wondering if any of you guys has tried the MBS vector channel trucks? In terms of speed wobbles normal skate style trucks arent the best and i find the conventionally channel trucks are in general more stable to use. So are the MBS ones really like, channel truck in terms of stability or are they more like a solid skate style trucks? The facts that MBS sells their pro version with titanium axels kinda appeals to me: http://extremekiteshop.com/kites/mbs-ve ... p-979.html //M Quote

m.klinge Posted November 2, 2010 Author Report Posted November 2, 2010 how fast u going? i have them and it's all good so far. u can buy stiffer rubber washers etc too Well around 40 kph i get quite some speed wobbles on my skate trucks - however on "real" channel trucks that is not the case //M Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Speed wobbles are rather interesting. Tighter trucks help, but a big part of the wobbles is the human factor, you feel an out of balance and correct too much, the wobbles begin. I managed 45 km/hr on my flexifoil deck with skate trucks without speed wobbles if I was careful. I made sure not to over correct, kept calm and loose, put just enough pressure on the front foot and kept enough tension on the kite to be able to lean against it. At one stage the kite lost some tension, I looked back and oops the wobbles began at around 40-45 km/hr, I then relaxed, steered the kite in a position where I could lean back on it some more and the wobbles went away, ---- and ya hoo I did not fall off, went for another run and beat my personal best. Also going on pure gravity runs without a kite down hill helps with skills to minimise speed wobble. The wobbles will come on much quicker without a kite. As for the MBS systems, sorry can't help there. Hope this helps. Regards, Norman. Quote
plummet Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 i haven't riden the vectors but i here they are in between channels and skates. for stability. speed wobbles happens because you are too upright on the board. power up with a big kite and lean back. get a small drift going. theres no wobbles happening in that position. besides powersliding at 50+kph is fun! m.klinge Posted November 3, 2010 Author Report Posted November 3, 2010 Hiya both of you Youre totally right about what makes speed wobbles happen and how to minimize them - however i still believe that channel trucks would help a lot. No scratch that - i know for a fact that when i borrow a board with channel trucks im much less likely to encounter speed wobbles Well i might as well just go for "the real deal" if nobody are able to give any first hands experience compared to skate trucks... //M Quote
plummet Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 i say get your self a fruity channel truck board then!!. trampa do some sweeet stuff theses days. Quote
