Maddog-Pete1599968700 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Leave the poor kid alone, He's only 14, Yes he made a daft statement that we all know is very unlikely, it's properly just over excitement and exaggeration. He might genuinely think that he did 60 mph where in truth it was probably half that. Almost all of us think that we jumped higher or travelled faster than we actually did at time, especially when we started out. Quote

wenglish Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 http://www.community.flexifoil.com/showthread.php?t=152919 nuff said, that guy blew up on the forum, and not just this one. i do notice he isnt banned though, he hasent posted since the end of december, but at teh time he was (despite his own actions, and im not defending them) treated a little harshly by other forum members. its a bit like if i say, ive jjumped off the side of a mountain with my kite and went over 50 meters through the air before landing, you wouldnt belive it, but if i posted a link to a vid ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVLduREuKEY well you carnt realy argue with it, it would seem that the other vid we made with the larger jumps in it has been pulled due to the music used, but you get the idea from that must sort that out lol. fly safe annd have fun stu Quote
samie coop Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 sorry to be bit of a party pooper but how do you know it was exactly 60mph? it could have been 55mph or 65mph? what did you use to measure the speed? and where is this hill cos i am keen....... I used my speedometer that i fixed to my board and my hill so no one else lol Quote
kitefloater Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 are you sure it wasnt kph? and what are your trucks.. i want the make and model.. then a picture of your speedo on your board.. what board have you got? Quote
tsp13 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 if you attached a bike speedo it wouldn't mesure the speed acuratly because the wheels would be to small to get and accurate reading. bike wheels are 25" and mountian board wheels are 8". so that could be why it said he was going 60 because smaller wheels have to spin faster than bigger wheels to acheive the same speed. if you get my drift Quote

Im not sayin that he was doing 60. The circumference of an 8 inch T1 is 62cm so what rpm would it have to be to be doing 60mph? Quote
LoKi_79 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 The circumference of an 8 inch T1 is 62cm so what rpm would it have to be to be doing 60mph? why bring cm into it? 8" tyre = 4" radius 2pi*4 = 25.133" 1 mile = 63360 inches 60mph = (60*63360)/60 = 63360 inches per minute 63360/25.133 = 2521 rpm (edit: or 42 rps) Quote
andy159 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 that must have knackered the bearings then lol Quote
LoKi_79 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 that must have knackered the bearings then lol lol, I get your point I think normal 6001's are rated to about 15000 rpm, but probably not under the lateral loads they would experience on a mountain board . Quote
andy159 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 geeks apparantly science (geeky stuff) proves everything and what it cant prove is all blamed on god's:D:eek: Quote
