craig.w1599968638 Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 try posting on this forum, someone will be able to help (if no one can here) http://www.focusfanatics.com/ Quote
Paul_C Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Think its right next to the fuel tank or you could ring up a ford dearlership and ask for the spares dept see if they know where it goes as they should be able to look at a diagram of the fuel system on the computer. Think its a bugger to change because of its location and you may need some special tools because of the fuel line being pressurised Take it we are talking about a petrol engine? as a diesel will be a cannister type filter in the engine bay Quote
Maddog-Pete1599968700 Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 it'll be either on the bulkhead or side of engine, can't remember with the focus, just follow the pipes from the pump, changing is easy have a spare battery to help start after? you sure thats where the airs getting in? does it still run? Take it the cars diesel Quote
rexel Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 From what you say it sounds like you have a diesel, the filter is on the left hand side (looking into the engine bay from the front) at the back next to the bulkhead behind the steering fluid reservoir. You don't have to worry about the air getting in, just make sure the new filter is full to the top before fitting and keep turning the engine over till it start's - easy. If it is a petrol it's next to the fuel tank. Quote
sharpey1 Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 Thanks rexel mate that really helpful Quote
rexel Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 And don't forget, there is an arrow on the filter and an arrow on the holder - make sure you line them up Quote
mattc Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 If it's a Petrol, The filter is next to the tank under the car. It looks like a small silver coke can with a pipe on either end. The pipes are pushed on and should only release the fuel contained in the filter which is enough to make you stink like a petrol station mop. It's better to unbolt the complete bracket from the car then take the filter out on the bench. Hope this helps Matt. Quote
