Tianui Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Peter, are you including both the yakuza handles, lines + QR and the Flexifoil handles lines and another QR? Also excuse my ignorance but I take it in your opinion the original Yakuza 4.0 is a superior unit to the Yak GT that appears to be the new model?? Cheers Shane Quote
Peter Posted January 29, 2010 Author Report Posted January 29, 2010 Peter, are you including both the yakuza handles, lines + QR and the Flexifoil handles lines and another QR? hi shane, no mate, yakuza's do not come with lines and handles, they were and still are, sold as kite only, with most shops offering handles and lines as an extra. one set of lines, one set of handles, one QR Clip and pulley, and one kite, one Yakuza bag, one extra draw string bag. Also excuse my ignorance but I take it in your opinion the original Yakuza 4.0 is a superior unit to the Yak GT that appears to be the new model?? Cheers Shane short answer, YES, you are correct, that is MY opinion. there is a long answer also, but i wont go there in an open forum. THIS IS IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM, A KITE FOR THE INEXPERIENCED, UNLESS YOU WANT A KITE THAT CAN AND WILL KICK YOUR ASS AT THE FIRST CHANCE IT GETS. IT IS AN EXTREMELY POWERFUL AND FAST KITE, NOT RECOMENDED AS A FIRST KITE. BUT IF YOU WANT TO BE AN EXTREME SPORTSMAN, THIS IS AN EXTREME KITE. but dont let me put you off buying it, it can be tame and dosile, if not used in too much wind. it can be gentle and forgiving, if not used in too much wind. Tianui Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 No stress Peter Not frightened by a four meter kite, as more times than I care to count I have been overpowered with big CQuads in big winds. I weigh close to 118 and my DL PL Buggy comes in at 49 kg's so combined weight deems I need lots of power to tack up wind. The problem is that I need something to fill the void as I have an 8.3 reactor 8.5, 6.3 4.2 and 1.4 CQuad's and a 3.6 peel (which lacks upwind) So unless I can get my hands on the 2.2 and 3.3 CQuads (not likely) then I need to find a kite powerful enough to pull me upwind in winds that are too dangerous for my 4.2 Cquad . So I imagine a Yakuza 4.0 or a Blade 4.0 would fit the gap??? Regards Shane Quote
Peter Posted January 29, 2010 Author Report Posted January 29, 2010 sweet as them mate, the Yakuza does have very good upwind ability, up there with the best of em, as do most high end race kites. and the yakuza is a race engine, high performance. if you want an intrroduction to higher aspect more powerful kites (and with your body mass, more than mine) and you seem to know what you want, then i would feel confident you could handle the Yakuza without a worry. and i woul be happy to sell her to you knowing that. And at this price you cant really beat it. the Yakuza is by far a less lifty kite than a Blade, and compareing the blade to a Yakuza, i think this yakuza has about the same power as a blade IV, and more than a Blade II. Please dont let my ravings put you off this kite, i want to sell her, but not to a newbie, i hope you understand as i was unaware of your experience and ability level. the handles are the latest from Flexifoil, the Prolink, i've put pigtails on the handles so a strop can easyly be attached and removed. the pulley and QR clip, are almost brand new, the Ronstan Pulley has never been used, the QR Clip, although its not a Whichard Clip, it is the Pin type, they can be hard to release under load, it is the clip i was using with this kite, and it had always opened when i needed it to. i fitted a new pulley as the one i was using has a chip out of the roller. i was originally going to sell it as Kite Only, but i added the lines, handles and the QR, and free postage, as i'm looking for a quick sale. Peter Posted February 6, 2010 Author Report Posted February 6, 2010 i'd actually prefer to sell it kite only. its on ebay for $300 kite only plus postage, but i'll still sell it to anyone here as offered. Quote
Tianui Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Righto Peter Talk turkey, I understand it's a good package, I trust the marks on the kite are minor and I hope the lines are in good nick. Trouble is I am in so much trouble with the "missus" for my kitebuggy, motorcycles and water skiing addictions that if she catches me buying another kite when I already have eight other kites and two buggies when she still lives in a rat infested old kitchen and moldy bathroom I'm going to get divorced!! So please take sympathy on me as I only have $300 squirraled away that she hasn't caught wind of yet. If you can accept that for the whole package then I will get it into your bank account pay day next week, providing you with a delivery address of a mates place so as to feel safe in coming home from work and trusting I won't be on the couch for a week (or worse) after the mailman arrived earlier in the day with a large package for yours truely! What do you reckon? Considering you "stole" my bussiness from the fella trying to sell his Flexifoil. Do we have a deal?? Regards Tianui Quote
Peter Posted February 8, 2010 Author Report Posted February 8, 2010 i have had quite a few offers on this kite, and have answered them all with a counter offer. first to reply here with 'sold to me' gets the kite, i cant hold it for those needing time, i dont mind a few days, but a quick sale is a good sale. its advertised for $350 with all the above, lines handles and the QR and pulley. including postage. i'll take $320 for kite, lines and handles, including postage. or $300 kite only, including postage (its also on ebay for $300 kite only, plus $20 postage.) so if any of the above interest you, amd you can pay within 5 days, then take the plunge and reply with 'sold to me' , i'll then send you a private message and discuss the rest. Payment can be by bank transfer or PayPal or even a personal cheque, unless its rubber. New Photos Added http://www.extremekites.com.au/gallery/ ... ter/4myak/ Quote

Denver1229 Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 Did someone have the Yak out for its first run last night in 25 - 30 knots???? Tianui?? I was having a hard time elsewhere trying to hang onto the 4m Ozone Flow in the gusts. Evan Quote
Tianui Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 Sure did, it was sweeeeeet!, no more C Quads for me. A whole new range of kites required! Quote
Peter Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 well, let me tell you one thing, if you like the old yakuza, try a combat (available at Briskites), you will be even more impressed. but the price will scare you away. (worth every cent.) i dont know if there are any combats over in WA yet, but i could be wrong, it has happened once before oh, by the way, glad your happy with the kite play safe Quote
Tianui Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 Yeah thanks Peter That was just a quick response today while I was at work. First fly last night and it was fantastic. probably 18 to 23 with an occasional gust to 30. Didn't spit me out but my light weight mate did get "ejected" and face planted commando style. When he took his "eyes of the ball" in a gust. We both loved it though as unlike a CQuad it's much more controllable. Did I mention fast! The more the wind come on the happier it was to just race away. My CQuads often pull me up to a certain speed and then get harder to manage as the buggy catches up. You just seem to have more options with the Yak. My Reactor 8.3 is like a train with a smooth wall of power but this Yakuza is fast while still allowing you to be in control, not something i'm use to being a C Quad fanatic. Those Flexifoil handles are also great. I Would have thought handles were handles but they demonstrate what a difference a bit of thought and design can make. Beautiful to use. Thanks again Peter very happy with the whole package. Regards Shane Quote
