  1. A new name in kites so was very interested to see how they stood up. DP kites POWER are obviously aimed at the entry- intermediate level of kiters with a price range to match . The 3.5 is £131 so a real bargain Starting off with unpacking. They come in a good sized black rucksack that has enough room to carry some more gear if you want – its not flash but basic and well made. A nice pair of colour matched alloy handles with comfortable foam grips unlike some of the other kites at this price. They come fitted with kite killers which I can say look very basic and don’t look comfortable but they will do the job and also have short elastic rope connected to the bottom of the handles like Ozone so wont get in the way The lines are the surprising part of this package – not cheap poor quality loose weave as you normally find at this price level but top quality Elderid coloured line with grey sleeving. This is the same stuff used on all the Ozone range and generally recognised as the best out there. Impressive !! The kite is made out of a good lightweight material with everything properly stitched and reinforced. The cell openings are protected by a black mesh to stop junk getting in and helping with keeping the shape when flying – similar to Flexi and Radsail. I think it looks ugly but that’s me. Another nice feature is the bridling – it’s thin and stitched so less drag and not at all like the thick black stuff or loose weave used on other kites – although it is only a single cascade so appears as a large bunch where it connects to the main leaders. The kite does have Velcro tidies on which I wasn’t expecting. Flying Went out with it yesterday an the winds were 12-18mph. Easy to set up and flies straight out of the bag with no bridle adjustments needed. Firstly this kite is very quick through the air and a real pleasure to fly – you can even do “sport kite” tricks with it , stalls, slides etc. It’s a deep shape that is very individual with a lot of trailing edge curve – this means it keeps inflated all the time. Tried it back to back with a 3.6 Beamer and there is no comparison – more lift, more pull, more speed than the Beamer. Next we went out in the buggy and it just worked really well, initially we were concerned if it would get upwind at all but it wasn’t bad at all. It would have been nice to have more wind at this time to really see how it went but 28mph chalked up on the GPS so good enough. Landing is easy and like all deep kites stays very inflated on the ground so benefited from double staking Conclusion These are a really nice kite that anyone should think about. Good for static and works well in a buggy. Didn’t get chance t see it on a board but cannot see why it wont work well as it has just enough lift. Yes there are better out there but they are twice the price but at this price bracket they will take a lot of beating. They also do one called the SPEED which is much higher AR and I can’t wait to have a go on one of those – looks mad. Author : rayens
