  1. I need a little help I have been teaching a 10 year old who has taken to this kitesufing like a duck to water. Not to surprising as he could fly a kite and wake board over jumps at a cable park. My Question is this . Taken that he uses a 125 wake board and that he will progress quickly What kite board is required and does any one have a cheep second hand one? Thanks
  2. New to the water it’s bows all the way They are just easier and safer. Try and keep on 4 line kites to start with for simplicity but don’t rule out 5 liners if the deals right. Try and avoid kites with battens as you will be crashing and they will be snapping Kites I would look for Best Waroo ( If you can stand the hype) GK sonic or trix now that the leading edge is sorted. Ocean Rodeo Rise which is getting some good rider reviews. There is loads more but at the end of the day if you have a good local dealer go with what they have as it will be loads easier if you get any problems.
  3. Ocean Rodeo dealers just look on the OR website . I know of 2 try richard@seabreezebreaks.com and info@twistandturn.co.uk The OR stuf is nice because it gets respect without all the forum bull and pimps
  4. The bar is the same as the mid 07 with the ez stopper . Lines are now 21m You will love the Rise I have the 12 and love it As Harry says it is in a different league.
  5. Avoid the 15 atom there are better kites for light wind. The flysurfer range comes to mind or a 14 Ocean rodeo rise which have a reputation for light wind performance.
  6. I've tried both 3 and 4 and find 3 a lot better for toeside as you can twist your back foot without the padding digging in to your instep. Mind I have never been known as a style Icon may be this is why.
  7. Car keys go around neck Everything else in a number lock safe from B& Q Bolted through the floor
  8. First shop around for you power boat first aid course. Try local sailing clubs I have know basic first aid courses costing from £15 (club) to £80 for the same thing. IKO BKSA The good news is that cross over courses are starting to appear so it isn't the end of the world which one you go on. It is a myth that you need BKSA qualifcation to teach in the UK its just that more options are open. If you are looking for working abroard then it has to be the IKO. What ever you decide first think how you would feel about being stuck on a beach in briliant conditions teaching a Numpty whilst the rest of the beach is going big. Thats the reality check.
  9. I have been using both the 150 and 134 Ocean Rodeo mako boards The 150 is a flat out wave carve board, where as the 134 is realy sweet on the waves but is loads better for freestyle a couple of links http://www.oceanrodeo.com/kiting/makotwintips.php# http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2341118&highlight=mako uk sales seabreezebreaks.com
  10. Bantham does not work Bigbury gusty and only works from mid tide through low water Third party insurance required
  11. If you are after trying the Carafino Hydrofoil there is a uk dealer www.carafinouk.com who has boards and teaches how to ride them.
  12. Its worth having a look here http://www.kiteboarder.co.uk/kitesurfing/viewtopic.php?t=20622 Quit an interesting topic which could have had implications for us all if a member of the public was injured
  13. try www.seabreezebreaks.com they had loads last time I was in
  14. An interesting new developement which could a bit of fun. Looks totaly lethal http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Carafino-Hydrofoil-Board-Kite-Lesson-Experience_W0QQitemZ260157646251QQihZ016QQcategoryZ58133QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  15. Try an Ocean Rodeo Mako either 150 or 134 both have an 18mm concave which helps reduce chop to a minor inconvience. Or you could try a hydrofoil and ride above it http://www.carafinouk.com/
  16. Reading back through posts you will find that most manufactures have had the odd kite that does this. Most will issue a warrant for repair or if the material is too damaged replace. You could be lucky Ocean Rodeo were slow to get their parts out so gave out a new kite as an apology ( I think I got that right)
  17. You could try here http://www.seabreezebreaks.com/ They have a good reputation and like you use Ocean Rodeo gear
  18. I've just been trawling round and a new site has come up. http://www.carafinouk.com/ Looks like the UK has an official importer for the Carafino boards. It's worth looking at some of the video links what that guy does behind a boat is stupid I bet given a kite he would be up there in any comp
  19. you could try richard@seabreezebreaks.com I know he had a Ocean Rodeo 12m one second hand but I don't know the price. Anyway it a tough kite and will stand land use with a big wind range
  20. If you come down to Devon you could try seabreezebreaks.com £99 for a day I think plus they have on site accomodation They run from a boat miles away from any obstructions so really safe
  21. I think that for pure safety on a 4 line kite the Ocean Rodeo Punch out can't be beaten. Easy to use .You releas the chicken loop without taking your hands off the bar. It's the way things should be.
  22. The 158 is miles better as a 4 fin setup Just remeber to plug the holes for the removed fins Unless you ike jets of water up your legs
  23. I got a 12m Rise from richard@Seabreezebreaks.com Its a well built piece of kit I run mine on the slow turn setting as I find fast is just too fast for me. Bottom end grunt is right there and I would say easly better than my old 14. Not the highest jumping kite but definately one of the nicest to fly and would suit every one plus let go of the bar really does mean total depower ( Good when you screw up tricks)
  24. Have a look http://www.pro-limit.com/displayitemv4comp.php?item_id=3931 I got on from richard@seabreezebreaks.com so it may be worth an e mail I have used mine for 3 trips as a golf bag without question.
