I've come up with the idea of transporting a landboard or buggy on a back of a bike. We are calling it the TowBoard/buggy. We have recently done a prototype for both landboards and a flexi buggy that work wonders, Dogger has been using his Towboard for a few month now with no problems and after him seeing a post on this forum for ways of transporting heavy boards and bags around we are including a few pics of the Towboard for others to see how good and handy it really is. dogger26 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Hi all, Well after many months of sore bums my sore bum syndrome has finally been given some time off! I started a new job a few month ago at a metal working factory, my mate Craig got me the job and he's been there for well over 7 years as there welder. 1 day we got chatting about how much weight i have on my back when i ride to our local field and how sore my bum gets on the mountainbike, i suggested making me a towbar to carry my board round on and what a great idea it was as i've been using version2 of the TowBoard now for a few months without any sore bums to see anywhere. I used to carry the board on my handlebars but then got a new bike with too many things on the bars to carry a board, but still having the board on the bars was iffy sometimes as i was a wide load! Our TowBoard works very well and is very simple wich keeps the weight down, it works for me and as i seen a post on the site from a guy looking for a cheap way to carry his board around with him thought it might be a good idea to pass some of these TowBoards around. The TowBoard will allso take a Flexibuggy full with gear, pics of this will come when we see ash as he has the buggy. The Towboard fits onto the bike by using the seat stem( different sized stems need different sized fittings ) thus allowing for the board and TowBoard to swing from left to right, this allows the board to keep its 2 wheels on the floor aswell as turn with the bike, you'll notice a screw in the fitting that attaches to the seat stem, this is to tighten up when there is no load on the Towboard so as to stop it swinging around wildly. This idea really does work guys and the price is very modest aswell which allso includes second class postage in the uk. Prices (may change in the future due to better design and longer assembly times) £19, item comes as standard, not powder coated, can allso be shipped same day on most days. £26 Comes powder coated, limited colours availables so please ask and we'll do our best. All prices include p+p aswell . Can allso ship abroad but buyer will cover p+p. Rememeber the following please guys and we'll all be happy ***Please give correct measurements of seat stem aswell as what type of bike you have and what size frame, wether adults or kids*** Allso if we know what bike you have we can google for it and work the measurements out if we have to. !!!! hugggy305 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 will it come powder coated? yes of course for a little extra. as i have only started to do towboards for a little while it would take about 3 days to get powder coated. price is for powder coating is only £5 extra but we only do basic coulours at the moment more paints to come in the future... bradking Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Hate to burst the bubble but all products designed to be attached to bikes to tow something, be it kids or boards have to conform to a BS standard, in other words, you need to get your idea passed off by an inspector before you sell it, which is a very long process with with more paper work than you could shake a stck at. If this causes an accident, yourselves as the seller are completely liable. Also, does this conform to highway code rules and regulations? Watch out, things are never as simple as they seem... Not having a rant, just wouldnt want to see you get burnt! Quote

I just need to find a bike For the moment, I use to take the bus with bags and board and got this weird looks from the driver and the public (especially when my clothes are muddy ) ... No bum sore but very limited choice of quality places ... Well, if I get a bike, I'll keep in touch with you... (Not sure whether the bus driver would allow my hm buggy in his bus) Good luck Mikael.
