kiteboy1599968610 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 its the leash u use 2 stop loseing the kite when leging go of the bar Quote
Crob203 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 So whats the difference between a suicide leash and a normal leash? Quote
kiteboy1599968610 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 1 works as a safey and don't lol u cilp it on 2 the chicken loop or the d power line Quote
northern jim Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Agree with Stu, much easier static. That said I'd not try them on a landboard, hurts enough on water for me when it goes wrong. Quote
AliB Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 try having the leash on the right side, that way no tangles dont you have to spin the bar?? sorry for the criticism but ....arent you grabbing the wrong side of the bar good stuff anyway, pip you knows it pips:rolleyes: Quote
bushflyer Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 i have landed a few on my board very dodgely though lol non on video i fly on my own almost all the time I can do double handle passes, but i fly alone. rich is probably telling the truth there... Quote
harry_a Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 ^^ in english? basically when you release it the bar doesnt fly towards the kite flagging it out, it just flies depowered and slowly floats down giving you time to grab the bar agin and not have to realaunch/sort lines out. it works best on hybrids or bows or the like on land as it doesnt stay very powered. i dont use a front line safety on mine as a chicken loop leash works just as well on a bow, and i have an o **** handle on the front line which i can grab if the **** hits the fan Quote
Bertie Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 so that means i could put my leash onto the CL of my switchblade? i thought about it before, but never really decided if i should. it would make unhooked far easier as my leash barely reaches the leash attachment point Quote
sym170 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 with the 07 bars you can use the sliding stopper to stop you falling like a stone if you miss the pass, that said, you will land with extreme power. Quote
Bertie Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 i wasn't planning on going big unhooked just yet Quote

marman Posted February 7, 2007 Author Report Posted February 7, 2007 i do believe, and correct me if im wrong, but the explanation is in the name ie; SUICIDE leash. let go of the bar and your still gonna go,like it or not,,,, On a bow... The kite fully depowers, from height will drop you like a sack of ****e Quote
Big Dog Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 I tried a suicide leash on my manta...it kept pulling, no supprise! hehe Quote
youngrider Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 wouldnt eva change from a suicide leash id rather floats dwn and then get dragged then get dropped on my head Quote
Marky G Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 just incase there is any doubt (as the descriptions seam to be a bit vague) suicide leash: attached to the chicken loop so when you let go of the kite it just depowers the kite so bows/sles/hybrids will fully depower but 'all' other kites will still be flying with a fair bit of power hence the name. normal leash: as stated is a full kill system and works differently depending on the style of kite. hope this helps. spooky Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 Suicide leashes, Depends what kite you have, bows it will depower them alot, providing you do not have any of these fancy stopper balls. C kites it will only de-power it as much as if you pushed your bar out normaly, so if powered up you will get a spanking. Hybrides, varies between the two options above, depending on wind range of kite and any stopper balls etc. Remeber rarely will it lower you to the ground, as the kite will tend to follow its last imput, ie if doing a handle pass, which ever hand last held the bar will put input to the kite, so it will tend to go that way. Not so bad if kites high n the window, but if it was done low down for a wake style move or even a unhooked kiteloop and you let go in error, sorry you will get spanked. Find out how YOUR kites safety works before using a suicide leash, and if it will be effective. Do not just copy some one else's set up as it is simular to yours, ie its an inflatable because you wish to look "cool" as well? Cool is very close to fool As the whole aim of them is to stop you kite flying off rather than to protect you, liek a re-ride safety. Fine on water in comps or say big waves where you need a quick relaunch, but on land access the risks against the advantages, after all most LEI's/Arcs etc you will have to set for relaunch anyway if they come nose down. Fly safe, Jon Quote
jelmerboy Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 yo marman, Let's see who is doing them first on the board ok? You or me:D Quote
