benne Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Definitely ban ebay links edit: i also support banning ebay links (can you put in an autocorrect that changes "ebay" to somethingelse) The people have spoken, can we have this banned or another section within for sale for ebayers?? Quote
ShadowChaser Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 New prefix thing works really well, Kudos to the creator.. Quote
lunaloco Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 The people have spoken, can we have this banned or another section within for sale for ebayers?? why do people feel that Ebay links are a no-no in the for sale section? As a buyer you don't have any extra cost when you buy at an Ebay auction and you might even buy stuff at a lower price then the one advertised on the forum. Quote
_Geordie_ Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Shaddow - I have the same issues with ebay - people disposing of shit!!, thats why I prefer to look on here, and strike a deal with a kiter, not an ebayer. I want to see kites for sale, not links to ebay!! What a load of rubbish. I've sold all my kites and loadsa more stuff on Ebay as have loads of other KITERS for years. I agree that you get unscrupulous sellers on Ebay but you also get that on the forums and from some dealers selling second hand kit as in perfect condition for that matter!. In fact you have no way of knowing what you're getting on the forums as there is no history or feedback here. I've been lucky with gear off here but I know people who haven't. Also who do you think sells most of the kites on Ebay? Fishmongers maybe? Of course not, its kiters and you can engage with them to find out more just as you can on here. Now that ebay have put its charges up it makes sense to sell on the forum, however some people don't want the hassle and messing around and the endless I want it for nothing. Put it on ebay wait 7 days, it sells, post it, job done, easy. The people have spoken, can we have this banned or another section within for sale for ebayers?? No they haven't, how many users are there on this forum? How many have posted here? Banning ebay links would be a mistake, I don't see that there is a problem? Quote
lunaloco Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 In fact you have no way of knowing what you're getting on the forums as there is no history or feedback here. There has always been and still is the Name & Praise thread in the for sale section. Quote
_Geordie_ Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 There has always been and still is the Name & Praise thread in the for sale section. I'm well aware of this. Hence my statement regardless. Not all transactions are recorded, pain to trawl through to find negative comments etc etc etc. Point being the feedback is not as comprehensive as ebay and I think the crux of my point is that both co-exist and have done for years quite happily. There is an old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". I like the prefix's, nice work! Quote
Krazy Kiter Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Loving the new prefix - thanks to rasta for that makes life easier Quote
rasga Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Glad you are all finding the prefix to be working well. And I agree, there's nothing wrong with having ebay links. Quote
benne Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Fair dos, people want to advertise cars too? Or maybee a colander?? Or any other thing they have for sale? Houses maybe?? Ras, you getting a fee off ebay to help with their sales too? I would rather pay a little bit to KC than ebay to be fair!! Quote

As a buyer you don't have any extra cost when you buy at an Ebay auction and you might even buy stuff at a lower price then the one advertised on the forum. If I want to buy off ebay I will go on ebay, If not, I wont. If I click on a link saying XYZ for sale, I dont want to see a link to ebay - I can find that on ebay if I wish. Quote

Banning ebay links would be a mistake, I don't see that there is a problem? Firstly, you know bollocks all of my ebay purchases, do not say it is a load of rubbish, there are plenty of people who have been stung - do a search!! Secondly, I refer to the kiters on here being more trustworthy than ebayers, this is from MY experience - look for sellers you are thinking about buying from in the feedback thread - it will give a better idea than a random 100 letter response on ebay,! Lastly, you find me a thread that EVERY member has posted on, doesnt happen, sorry!!! enough people have expressed a dissinterest in ebay links compared to those who like them!! Quote
robeair Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 WOW this is quite a heated topic!! Just to add another opinion to the many already here I am all for ebay links. It really doesn't take long to press backspace if you don't want to read it, and sometimes you may find items you did not think to search for on ebay. One for the pro ebay links (sorry to those who don't like it) Quote

That you can get ripped off on Ebay? Read my post again. If you got ripped off, unlucky, there are thousands and millions that haven't. Not true, your making generalisations. Fair shout, but still that doesn't mean this thread is a democratic vote just because you think it is. Anyway its a done deal, subject closed. Quote

I'm a kiter...That has sold kites on ebay and advertised it here. So are you going to trust me from a kiting perspective or call me a scum bag for using ebay? Everything I've bought and sold on ebay has always been at competitive prices and legitimate products. Kitecrowd isn't the be all and end all for kiters so some people who may not know about it could go to ebay to purchase their gear so it opens the potential market for the seller up hugely... Quote
_TOM_1597507763 Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 agreed. its bassically the same but i deffinately think you shouldnt say its brand new unless it is. Quote
creature Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Hi, im a new user here, but have been thinking that, when an item is sold, if the seller renames the subject to sold, users dont have to waste time scanning through 3 pages to find out if the item is still available. what do you all think? Quote
Boardinboff Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 I to will say don bother with ebay cause i recently bought a kite on ther, before i had even found kitecrowd through a freind, and was gutted wen it was a piece of crap..Seen so many better ones on ere, and wont bother lookin on ther again.. Genuine guys on ere means we all get what we want... Quote
rasga Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Hi James, it's great if people do it, for instance any topic starter can delete their thread. Technically people could have the priviledge to close their thread etc, but it's unlikely to be used. The For Sale / Wanted area is perfrming better than it sed to, but I acknowledge that there are some flaws. Quote
mmiket Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 I like your forum a lot and the prefix thing is really great! And I agree: sooo much easier to browse through offers when in title you see what it concerns! Keep on! Quote
Clint_Hastings Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Pardon my ingnorance but what does LEI Mean ? Thanks Clint Quote

Bego Boys Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 I think that we are all missing one point when looking through FOR SALE section. WHY OH WHY is there kites and kit still listed when it was sold last year. This very frustrating to open sales up and find its sold months earlier. For example why do we need to know that something was sold in 2007. The idea of selling gear on these sites is to give similar people an opportunity to buy from similar kinded people for a reasonable price. You wouldnt expect a shop to advertise stock that it hadnt got or wasnt likely to get. Come on lads the 17 pages of sales could be reduced to about 8 or 9 and i wouldnt have to sit here an hour sifting through em. Quote
Bego Boys Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Agreed new is new. The guy selling on ebay a kite " selling as new only used twice". The answer is the statement USED. Quote
Cafe.Racer Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 The only thing about deleting old threads is that they are useful when you're trying to determine if a kite that is currently for sales is advertised at a reasonable price, or trying to figure how much to advertise something for! Also, I bought something once and within minutes of buying, the seller had cleared out the advert, TBH, it made me nervous I wondered if he was trying to remove the description to hide the fact that the item wasn't "as described". It wasn't, it was georgous in fact, but still. I think renaming the thread title to include "SOLD", or at least add a final post saying "NOW SOLD", is best. Of course, there seem to be people that advertise something, then they never post up again. It always makes me wonder if they actually want to sell... Oh, and a PM (or advertised contact method) to the seller asking "is this still available" rather than bumping a dead thread... Apart from that, it's great Quote
Nick1599968727 Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 still think all for sale items must have a price if anybody is familiar with "avforums" the dale section there is strongly moderated with strict rules but boy does it work well! Quote
