jungletommy
do you think that tandam wheels will help me set the speed record, ill be flying on tarmac.
sandrash
Hi JUNGLETOMMY,tandem wheels are usually used on soft surfaces to stop you sinking in so if you are on tarmac i think the extra rolling resistance wuold probably slow you down. However if you are going for speed put on as large a diameter wheel as possible ,i dont know the maths for this but i just know a large wheel rolls better than a small one. What kind of speed are you hoping to achieve??? keep us posted and good luck.SANDRASH:cool:
tom1599968574
you will get a lot of grip on tarmac. My mates vmax has got two wheels side by side at the back. it accelerates a lot slower but can hold a much better line upwind. You could try the wide tyres with the flat profile to get as much tyre on the road as possible? tom
penance
more tyre would = more friction a fine balance between stability and friction should be found, dont ask me how:confused:
OneFinFlexi
As penance says more tyre equals more friction on tarmac too much grip is the problem ie anything other than a gentle turn will flip you out as the rear end cannot slide In a buggy you do not need to put power down through the wheels as power is supplied by kite So you want minimum rolling resistance ( grip ) but the buggy needs to be stable what about a steering damper like on some motorcycles? as this would add less drag + weight than wide axle big tyres route to stability Dont know if it would work but sounds logical ? burgy
If you want to really ripon tarmac your gona need sone larger diameter wheels, 17inch Motobike or 24-26inch mountinbike wheels. Best to run a 1.5m axle if your on wheels that big though. One Fin Flexi The 3 wheel layout of a buggy is so stable the Angle the forks at isnt that important, Its more important to have the trail on the fork/wheel with in 25mm else when your well powered its a right effort to steer in a straight line! If you get the trail right steering damping is not needed to make the buggy useable at speed. Steve
OneFinFlexi
Cheers burgy only got a standard buggy but when at speed on grass or sand can definitley *shake its head* Its probably a bump that starts it so smooth tarmac may be ok. Got no preload or damping to play with so thought a steering damper may help. New it was to easy to be true thanx for the advice.
