nigel
Well it's been 5 years since I last had a run at Sandy Point. With Christmas Falling on a Wednesday, that should mean there will be a few people like me who finish up on Friday the 20th. So that leaves Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, available to buggy. Tides are looking good. 11:02am Sat. 21st Dec. 11:45am Sun. 12:27pm Mon. 1:10pm Tues. Even a post-Christmas, Boxing Day run could be done. 3:29pm Fri. 27th Dec. 4:18pm Sat. 5:09pm Sun. I am aiming to do a day trip, but if conditions are great, and I get my Christmas duties done in time, an over night stay could be on the cards. So, any takers?? A weeks notice to polish the buggy, replace those frozen bearings, and dust off the kites. Now, cross those fingers and hope Mother Nature comes to the party. nigel
Forecasts are in!! Tuesday looks to be the pick of the bunch. But, it is the 24th of Dec. So, I guess there will be a number of people unable to make it, as they have things to do before Christmas. Wonthaggi forecast for Tuesday: 22 degrees. Possible shower 0-1mm 40% chance of rain. Cloudy. Medium chance of showers. Winds southwesterly 20 to 30 km/h So looking like a nice kite buggy day! Any takers??

nigel
Hi Buzz, Saturday looks great , even better than Tuesday , after the BOM adjusted the forecast for a little stronger, and more Westerly winds down Wilson's Prom way (which have been changed again!). Would love to go Saturday, but my son has cricket on. I thought they were finished for the year but got informed that he had the match on Saturday, after first posting up the invite. But don't let me stop you from going down, Saturday is looking sweet.......

Buzz Fledderjohn
Looking good so far! Low tide just before 11 & nice steady southwesterly all day. Doesn't get much better! 🤓 Cricket could still get cancelled 🤣
Buzz Fledderjohn
Great day here at Sandy!! Beach mostly deserted. Kneeling in the sand, kite flapping in the wind, trying minor adjustments with Flexi's aaa bridle adjuster contraption seemed to make a huge difference to the kite wanting to drift back in the window all the time... anyway, it worked! Been cruising along the beach all morning from Waratah right down to where the beach ends at the inlet. (Beware of the rusted remains of a 4wd poking out of the sand near there!😳) Beach getting narrow with the tide coming in, so called it a day. Maybe catch you next time the planets all line up Nige!! nigel
😥 Glad you had a good time Buzz. Sounds like Sandy Point turned it on just for you. Empty beach, good wind, and effortless cruising. I am off work till the 15th of Jan, so fingers crossed a buggy run in the second week of Jan (when the tides are good), can be done. Till then, it's back to waiting.....
nigel
Ok, my arm has been twisted. Heading down tomorrow, wind is cross on, so fingers it is not too much down the beach. Low tide at 1:10pm Looking at getting there around 10:30am. Threat of rain should keep the public off the beach. See you there!! Now to pack the car.... nigel
Not a bad day!! Went down with two beginners, and spent most of the day sorting them out. Had rain on the way down, but none when we got there. Patchy overcast conditions, and as such, almost no one on the beach. The wind was very cross-on, only just able to buggy up the beach without tacking. For Sandy Point, it was a little bit gusty at times. Going from 10 knots to 15. So it made it a bit hard for my beginners to get to grips with their kite's power. Sorry no images, to busy. Next low tides at Sandy Point: Saturday, 4th Jan. 9:51am Sunday 5th, 10:37am. Monday 6th, 11:23am. Tuesday 7th, 12:09pm. Wednesday 8th, 12:57pm. Thursday 9th, 1:48pm. Friday 10th, 2:42pm. Saturday 11th, 3:41pm. Sunday 12th, 4:40pm. Any takers for the above dates!!
