Wilsons Promontory

Spent a couple of days wandering around Wilsons Promontory when the wind wasn't predicted to be much chop for Sandy point.  Geez, this place is bigger than I remember and it's amazing how one minute you can be in a shady gully surrounded by tree ferns and not far away are spectacular beaches or granite mountain tops.  I could have easily spent one to two weeks and still only covered a small portion of the Prom.  @Chook If you and Anne get the chance to visit on your Vic trip, do it - lots of different bird species calling in the gullies.  The main Tidal River campground is getting very busy/tourist-y and you probably wouldn't get a spot over the Jan holidays - but the Yanaki campground 25km away is pretty good with a loud and varied dawn chorus and reasonable prices.

For the tech heads, this was all hand held footage (except for the time lapse) from the iphone using the Zhiyun smooth Q gimbal.  Best viewed in 1080.

Excellent John - we've never been as when ever we're down there, we have the Maggie Moo with us.

Such a healthy looking wommie - nice thick coat to keep out the wind. The gimbal works excellently - you should sell your footage to the Wilson Prom Tourist Board.

We like to try and get to the Prom when the weather doesn't look good for kiteing. This trip we saw two emu's by the side of the road, a wombat and a wallaby in the camp ground and a deer thought about running in front of our car on the way out. We did the Lilly Pilly gully board walk as it is an easy one for the kids.

One year when tidal river was not accessible due to floods we explored the top enc of the park and discovered amazing sand dues and an interesting mangrove area.

There us always something different to see and this time there were lots of wild flowers.
