Sorry given you a bad news but beachs there really busy at this time of the year. Your best bet is get a car and drive to Akayaka. Akyaka is the best beach you use for the kitesurf. You can always push your luck and kite where you stay however beach user on the beach boats on the shore always ll be problem.

Hi, I live in Dalaman for two or three months each year. Sarigerme is excellent for kitesurfing but you must fly out of the school and be able to keep upwind. You will need about a 12m or maybe larger on some days. Go and have a word with Erkan or Birol at the school which is located at the town end of the beach. Your hotel is probably one of the ones at the other end of the beach. Just stay out of the swimming zones and you will be OK. I will be there for the whole of September and would gladly show you the other beaches nearby that can be used. Just ask for Ant at the school. When are you going?

Hi Pieman, I do not teach over there but I have known the guys at the school for 6 years now. I am flying out today and will be there all of September. The beach at your hotel has a fair amount of kite killing debris on it at times and the water has a quick drop off point. You would be best to walk away from the hotel beach before you set up as the hotels get very funny with people flying near their guests. The kite school is only a 10-15 min walk along the beach. Turn right out of your hotel beach and head for the outcrop of rock. Behind this is a footbridge that takes you over a small estuary towards more hotels. Keep walking past these hotels and eventually you will see the area that is dedicated for launching/landing kites as well as the kite school hut on your right, this area is not associated with any of the hotels. The school has secured an area of beach and water that no swimmers our allowed to use! On a good day the wind gets funneled between the main land and the island 1/2 mile out to sea. It's a nice trip round the island as well as long as you can go upwind.

The only place to hire a board there is from Erkan at the school. You will need a pka card or equivalent to prove to him you can kite, if not he will have a half hour session with you to see what your skills are like. He has all sizes of boards available and is never normally that busy. On that beach a busy day is about 5-6 kiters on the water. He also does day trips to Patarra and Gokova. If you fancy it one day I could take you to Gokova (1 hrs drive away) and show you Kite Beach.

I do not have a phone over there so just message me on this forum, or take a walk along the beach and ask for Ant.

What dates r u coming out?

Hopefully see you on the beach for a session.

Happy flying,

Ant

Hi, one other thing you might like to know is that if you r thinking of renting a board from the hotel they will get one from Erkan at the kite school and charge you twice the price for it. They also do this with lessons as he is the only registered kitesurf instructor on that beach. It's a bit cheeky really that they do this but they try to make money out of you by ripping you off whenever they can. It would be best to speak to him anyway before you hit the water as he can tell you what the conditions are like. There is sometimes no wind on the beach but 200 yards offshore it can be blowing a gale! The wind only ever kicks in about midday as it's a thermal wind and blows to about 6pm.
