Nick1599968727
The club was formed in 1989 as a result of local demand. It is affiliated to The British Federation of Sand and Land Yacht Clubs (BFSLYC, or 'The Fed') which arranges our insurance, officiates at a series of national regattas and selects the British team for european/world competition. The club sails on the East Hoylake Bank, a vast sailing site off the coast of Hoylake on the Wirral, which is one of the best sites in the country Founded originally by a group of local sand yachters, the club welcomed parakarters (class 8, kite-buggies) into its membership, and all members share the facilities at the club headquarters and the sandbanks at Hoylake, Wirral For more information on the club please visit http://www.wsyc.org.uk/ The club offers a friendly environment for the novice or experienced pilot, the flying area is truly massive and can accommodate almost any wind direction when the bank is "dry". This is during 'neap' tides when the high tide is less than 8.2m and is typically periods of 4 to 6 days every fortnight. The membership cost will seem worth every penny, the first time you come back from a day on the bank/beach on a cold or wet day to a large clubhouse with heating, hot showers, kettle, microwave, cooker and for on those hot summer days we have 2 fridges and a tall freezer in the club house. If you need to make any repairs we have an industrial sewing machine in the club house and a small workshop with bench grinder, pillar drill, compressor and plenty of hand tools. Though don't expect to find the tools that easily as they seem to walk around the workshop and end up in different spot each time you visit. No wind when you get there? well we sit and chat on sofas, watch TV in the club house, surf the net on the club pc or fettle the buggies with the club workshop, its just not the same as sitting in the car waiting for the rain to stop! So come and join the fun . . . . Chris P
What about day permits? I'd be interested in a few day trips up from the midlands and i'm sure some of the other people i fly with would. A 2 hour drive up and a different place to buggy would be nice once in a while
Nick1599968727
Hi chris, hoylake is tidal and only useable when the high tides are below 8.2m, we then get a dry bank for 3 to 7 days (the water never covers it at all during this period) if you are definately coming for one of the drybank sessions then as long as you have insurance a member can sign you in for the day I believe there is a £5 charge ill be corrected if im wrong. once you have seen what we have to offer you may consider joining £40 if you have your own qualifying insurance
Chris P
Thanks for the info Nick, currently have BKSA insurance if that qualifies. I'll keep an eye open for dry bank days and see if i can't get up for one of those days

Jo0lz
Fancy seeing a beach front cafe on Hoylake Prom? If so there is a planning application that needs your support It took a long time to get planning permission for a change of use to the public loo block at the end of Trinity Road in to a small cafe with a beachfront deck The original application that was approved can be found here WMBC Applic APP/06/05925 CLiK2LinK_HERE BUT now because of the economic climate and not having started the development the permission is at risk of running out of time! So another planning application has been submitted to extend the time of the hard fought permission Of course this has given locals against the scheme a second chance to object! Currently there are 5 comments in favour of the cafe BUT 13 AGAINST!! So if you want to see the chance of that cafe happen you need to add your support here Add Support for WMBC Applic APP/12/00009 CLiK2LinK_HERE Cheers Jo0Lz
