  1. After a fabulous time over in SA, we've both got the feel again to be back in the buggy and blofly. With the COVID situation settling here in Victoria, what about re-booting a speed week? Thoughts?
  2. Well this is all dependent on what's going to happen in the next week or two...... But being the optimist, I am putting up the dates for weekends with great tides for Sandy Point. All depends on the weather as well. Sept. 26th low tide 12.17pm. Sept. 27th low tide 1.08pm. Oct. 10th low tide 12.19pm. Oct. 11th low tide 1.02pm. Oct. 24th low tide 12.09pm. Oct. 25th low tide 12.56pm. Nov. 7th low tide 11.15am. Nov. 8th low tide 11.56am. Nov. 21st low tide 11.06am. Nov. 22nd low tide 11.51am. Dec. 5th low tide 10.09am. Dec. 6th low tide 10.52am. Dec. 12th low tide 3.58pm. Dec. 13th low tide 4.58pm. Dec. 19th low tide 10.01am. Dec. 20th low tide 10.48am. Dec. 21st low tide 11.33.am. Dec. 22nd low tide 12.17pm. Dec. 23rd low tide 1.02pm. Dec. 24th low tide 1.48pm. So it might be good for a pre Christmas run if people have the time off. Fingers crossed we can get a run in considering this very strange year.
  3. It Has been a long time with no kites. time to get a few hours in the air this weekend. Cya There,,,
  4. Decided to go out for a quick fly with the family today (as it's corona Kite fest weekend), and take some pics to add to the fun. But greeted with a buggy zipping around the field and a new kiter struggling with twisted lines. So a big Hello to the boys their today!! Don't be lurkers, say hello, post up a message, and we can include you in our events, or random banter. Plenty of old farts kiters here to help if you want it. Or even if you want a hand setting up a kite! Hope to catch you both next time!!! And a pic of what I set up for the Corona Kite Fest.
  5. We've been quite quiet on the forum lately but I thought to fill you all in with what's been going on with ourselves. Doug and I have taken a liking even more to the static flying and have been moving about the south east attending various kite festivals over the past couple of years. Yesterday we were flying at the 2020 Rosebud Kite Festival. This year the festival seemed to have lost its flare, but we still managed to have a kite or two in the air and got to hang out with the likes of fellow buggyer's @nigel and @The Duke. Its always nice to catch up with friends with like-minded hobbies. Doug and I now have a Facebook page called Clear Blue Kites where we have a few photos and videos posted. But for those of you who steer away from Facebook and all its politics, here are a few photos of our kites for you to enjoy. Up next...... 2020 Adelaide International Kite Festival
  6. @Tiger37 has got the ball rolling with the thoughts of speed week and this week end, we came out of hibernation and over dinner, myself, @igeighty, @the_hatmanand @Bill had a chat. Tides and weather permitting we all thought that the weekend before or after the footy may be the go, when its not too busy, but looking at the tides, Friday 25th October has a good low tide mid afternoon. So the seed has been planted, have a look at your tide charts and your work calendar and pop a few suggestions down. @roblukin, @bakersdozen, @.Joel, @mik333, @DrWind, @OBEwan, @Clive, @nigel, @BobM, @Darren Tibbey, @The Duke, @cris italy

  8. Hi All, Well our time in Kingston S.E has certainly excited us and the Victorian flyers are keen for some more buggy action. Looking at the tides and weather and wind depending, how about the weekend of Saturday 16th February and Sunday 17th February? The low tides appear at the end of the month but stretch across the week. If it works out, we will organise it closer to the date. We will plan on camping the night at the caravan park.

  11. Really excited about snowkiting this winter, Last year i had a broken shoulder and new born son, so this year im doing double to make up for my lack of riding in 2016. In Preperation:- My wife and work have been informed of my plans to ride lots. I have purchased seasons and resort access passes for Falls creek (because conditions can never be counted on). Lodge bookings have been made, with flexibility. Lots of good deeds and Karma points, which will hopefully be exchanged for great conditions. Share the stoke, so please make yourself known if you plan on riding Falls, post your trip details, photos etc. Enjoy, Karl Lapwood. 2013 snowkite.bmp
  12. We're hitting the beach for Christmas. Come join us on a Sandy Point day trip this Monday! Meet at the carpark 11:00am.
  13. Was originally planning a trip to Box Hill for some lens buying, but some machinery replacement costs have killed that idea. However, Sunday's low tide is really low for 13th (.11m) at 12.46pm so maybe a trip to 13th? Moderate southerlys predicted. What say ye?
  14. Rosebud Kite Festival is running over the Labour Day Weekend, seeing as we are making the trip to Sandy Point before Labour Day then perhaps a trip to this years festival for some of us may be of interest. The festival runs on Sunday 8th March, from 11am to 5pm. More info can be found at http://rosebudkitefestival.com.au

Hi Guys, I'm looking at the tides for Labour Day 2015, and they're not flash! Alternatively, push it forward to run over Easter instead perhaps for an extended stay? It'll collide with Yeppoon and the Adelaide International Kite Festival, however for those that don't travel interstate for those events anyway it's a non-issue. Share / Discuss thoughts... Also lookout towards the end of the month, i'll get a summery out regarding the meeting from Sandy Point regarding the new club once I get some time to finalise a few more items/updates for that email out.

  25. As many know, I wound up my retail kite business in Geelong earlier this year. I am now finally getting around to following up on the kite club (as the registered 'public officer' and treasurer, I am still getting bank statements and requests for annual statements to consumer affairs). I emailed Joel twice in 2012 (6/10 and 15/10) to try and complete the cancellation process but received no reply. It seems the creation of the VKA has stalled / gone nowhere, but this unfortunately raises issues as to how the funds of the GKC was spent. As a club that was there for the benefit of members (many of whom are on this forum); I think it is appropriate for this to be discussed and sorted out in a transparent manner. 1) In order to cancel the registration of the club we need to complete a form (PDF form here) This form needs 2 committee members to fill in and sign, and requires a number of documents as you can see on page 2: A special resolution regarding distribution of assets, and a receipt from the recipient of those assets. There are a number of cheques that were written and cashed by Joel (correct me please if that is wrong) but which need to be accounted for (with receipts). I have never had a problem with these funds being used for the creation of the VKA; but as mentioned above, nothing whatsoever has happened? Chq 359 $149.95 (banked 24/06/11) Chq 360 $148.50 (banked 24/06/11) Chq 213 $1,300.00 (banked 24/11/11) 2) We need to close the bank account (current account balance $85.88). It was never up to me what was to happen with these funds, but I would suggest that members request that either the VKA is created using these funds (which was the vote at the final GKC meeting), or they are returned to the GKC for distribution (donation) to another club or organisation. I see there's another Sandy Point fly happening this weekend; perhaps a good opportunity to get something happening, or discussion there-of. In good faith. Goshen
