  1. hmmmmm.....south to southwesterlies at 30km/hr...... .3m low tide at 1.20pm. Tempted for a run down.... any takers? Not to mention giving the shiny new wheels a run......
  2. As my trip to Sandy hasn't worked out, I'm chomping at the bit for a buggy and the wind is looking good for Sunday and Monday evening at 13th Beach. Late low tides - probably buggyable from 5.20-6pm on the Sunday assuming the rain has cleared. What say ye?
  3. I'll be heading to moran reserve in the afternoon after I finish work. Ill be there at about 4:30 if anyone wants to join me for some landboarding/practice, im new to the sport.
  4. As me burfday is on the 9th, I thought I'd celebrate it by buggying on my favorite beach. The low tides are early evening and there's a full moon around then too, so if we've settled into a few sea-breezes by then it could be magic. At this stage, I'm thinking I'll stay at the Waratah Bay caravan park but if there's any other takers, they have cabins at reasonable rates. Prices here: http://www.waratahbaycaravanpark.com.au/prices.htm Standard cabins can sleep up to 6 and there's piccies on the site. Alternatively, if there's a few of us, we may be able to get a house - we can sort something out if there's enough interest. What say ye ?
  5. HI all, looks like ELWOOD IS GOING TO BE GOOD
  6. Buggying in Melbourne northerly winds ? But don't want punctures.... Ie werribee and it's 3 corner jacks. Don't know if 13th beach works on a northerly ? Suspect not. The inside beach of portsea close to the heads looks interesting but unsure of access. Open to suggestions. Want a bit more room than a footy oval.
  7. Hi All, Below are the details for the Speed Week 2011 meet. I have booked 4 houses to begin and like every year we will run this as a first come first serve basis. To ensure you have a spot your place must be paid for. Often we will run out of spots before the last booking date specified below, accommodation is not infinite so we operate with what we have access to. Where is it happening? We meet at Sandy Point, a small town based on the coast of Waratah bay. It is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne. Event Agenda Saturday 29th October: Arrival / Casual Flying Sunday 30th October: BBQ Night Monday 31st October: Casual Flying Tuesday 1st November: Departure / Casual Flying Mini Golf In the event that we may not get ideal winds for kiting across all days a Mini Golf Tournament will be held as backup with prizes. Accommodation You can book yourself some accommodation through Extreme Kites or organise your own. $139 Singles (Single Bed) $239 Couples (Double / Queen Bed) This includes 3 Nights / 4 Days accommodations, and BBQ dinner + entry in to competitions and prizes. Accommodation is limited and we operate on a first paid first served basis. If you are booking early and would have preference to those who you share a house with please let us know via email in advance and we will do our best to make those arrangements. Bookings and Payments The final day to book is September 30th 2011, be aware this does not mean there will be accommodation available up until this point. We usually fill all houses well before this date! And a friendly reminder for those who say "save me a spot i'm coming," if you haven't paid i'm not saving you any spot, I will simply nod and smile. Your reservation is only secured once you have made payment. Credit card payments can now be accepted to secure your spot. Cancellations All cancellations and requests must be made before September 30th 2011, any later than this and we will not issue a refund unless we can fill your spot. Optional Registration If you are not staying with us and have organised your own accommodation there is an registration fee of $15 if you wish to attend the BBQ. This will register you with Extreme Kites and keep you in the loop and include entry to our BBQ dinner night. How to Book Please email to Joel@WindCube.Com.Au and a form will be sent to you in return. Insurance and Local Guidelines We advise all attendees to have registered 3rd party insurance when attending any meet. All Extreme Kites registered individuals will receive a map outline of local kiting rules and regulations for the event via email. Have Questions? If you have any questions you are welcome to ask here in the topic or send an email to Joel@WindCube.Com.Au Notes: Rates & Price Reductions Accommodation rates and prices have been reduced up to $15 per booking. T-Shirts & Clothing T-Shirts are no longer included free, due to a lot of people wanting different colours / varieties / long sleeve etc. Instead for those wanting T-Shirts they will be made available online mid August through the Online Store for purchase in a variety of Hoodies, T-Shirts, Long Sleeve and Short Sleeve all in different colours which you can select.
  8. If there's going to be a sea-breeze on Saturday evening, I'll head down to 13th for a run in the buggy. Haven't been down there for months!
  9. should be a nice arvo for elwood heading down after lunch any takers?
  10. Who knows what the wind is doing in Shallow inlet and Waratah Bay? Due to the lack of wind yesterday I had a ride onboard the KRAKEN RHIB out through the enterance to Shallow Inlet and up to the surf life saving club. ABSOULUTELY AWESOME, great fun. Getting airborne over 1.5 meter swell and surfing the wave in is wicked !

    el WOOD

Could be some wind Might be a little wet Heading down to elwood
  13. some how i managed to leave my liquid force dlx 134 board at altona beach this arvo , i didnt even get to ride it the wind was so light , there was a few people around once i left , have popped back down there but its gone , a slab of whatever you drink if it turns up
  14. Kiteboards who frequent the western end of the Esplanade at Altona are going to be in for a shock when the next southerly blows. The council have cut down many of the small trees on Apex Park, built a playground and replaced the old toilet block with new modern ones closer to the road, exactly where people used to land their kites! It will only be possible to land on the beach (low tide) or walk 40 meters further up near the pipe. Basically it is going to be difficult if not dangerous to kite there, presumably its the intention of the council that everyone moves to the pier end. Personally I would miss the smell.
  15. Anyone going to Elwood today
  16. Heading to Elwood shortly Looks like a cracker of a day
  17. Forecasts looking good! Any one else heading down?
  18. Hi all Really hoping Sunday brings some decent wind , looks n/w at the moment so was going to try point Henry So anyone else fancy the cold water lol Thanks Mark
  19. With a bit of luck this wind might push a little more west Planning to head to Elwood for a sunny session Should be there from 1 onwards
  20. calling all landboarders, the You Yangs are now open again. Yea haaa. No wind today, so downhill runs are the go. Zachary and I will be heading off to the You Yangs just before lunch today 13 August 2011 at about 11:00am from Point Cook estimate to arrive about 11:30 at the You Yangs. I'll have a peak at this thread before I leave to see if there are any takers. Odds are we will stop at the NW corner of the circuit road to have some fun on the mogules before heading further round the circuit track. Regards, Norman.
  21. I am planning on doing to some downhill landboarding runs in the Brisbane Ranges park Saturday 25 June 2011. The grades of the runs vary from easy to absolutely knarly, so dependant on your skill level there are plenty to pick from. They are all dirt roads so doing power slides is no problem. My son and I headed out there some weeks ago and had a whale of a time, so looking to go up again. Plan to be up there around 9am for an early start, less traffic that way and it's just nice being up in the bush in the early part of the day. Start time is negotiable. Hell never know your luck, get the downhill in early then if the wind picks up in the afternoon go for a kiting session on the way back. Note: the Brisbane Ranges only offers downhill landboarding, no kiting. Later tonight I will post up some topographic maps of the area. Plan to enter the park at Mcleans Hwy with the cars, then head North a bit for the downhill runs in the valleys. Plenty of exploring to do. We can decide on the day the exact routes. You don't need a 4WD to access the area, I only have a Holden Astra and that still gets me to all the good spots, and if the going gets a bit tough we can always park the car and continue with the landboards. Let me know if you are interested. Regards, Norman.
  22. Anyone up for a kiteboard at Aspendale? Looks to be a good onshore there, and i haven't kited there before, so i thought i'd check it out. Any suggestions/advice for the local area? Hopefully i'll be there before midday, and will prob hang around till early afternoon, all going well. Anyone kiting at a different location?
  23. Hi all, Looks like it's going to be a cracker of a day at Elwood anyone up for a session ? Jolli
  24. hi everyone am a recent arrival in melbourne , point cook to be exact and yes i'm a pom but dont hold that against me lol been flying kites for many years and spend most of my time on the water (have been known to landboard when the winds light) and have lived through a couple of uk winters on the water, the cold holds no fears for me , so does anyone else brave the cold around victoria , i also notice the winds are majorly northerly this time of year so a trip round the coast is needed many thanks mark
