I decided to commit to buying a HQ Beamer 1.8m the other day as my high wind kite. I have got to say that altogether I am very pleased with it. Its upwind performance when buggying is fantastic with me nearly making headway directly into the wind !
I flew it on a private airfield I have access too in very gusty conditions (15 - 32mph). It did luff several times during the session but that was to be expected considering the conditions.
The build quality of this kite is very good with black, sleeved and reasonably thick Dyneema bridles being used. There are, however, many large knots within this bridle set up which I have found to snag up a little and cause rather a few swear words to be uttered !
The supplied flying lines are of 20m length and look to be good quality, certainly better than the monstrosity's you get with the PKD Buster range !
The supplied handles are very thin and not well padded but are well made and serve the purpose to what they are intended.
I also like the way that HQ have incorporated the colouring of the kite internally and have used the cross joiners between the cell segments to do this.
Altogether a very good piece of kite equipment and WELL worth the very reasonable price.
