  1. Thanks @bakersdozen
  2. Vietnam is a really great place for a kite holiday. Consistent wind, nice and chilled people, lots of good food. Here’s a few pics https://www.facebook.com/100064057809685/posts/pfbid02GiySSE8eiUx4Skg3BH1YnvFxztpvneogfoz3egejqoa5H1HFtgoz3fiauHPFKAAul/?

  4. As the title says. I’m heading to Mui Nę tomorrow from Phuket and have been trying to find some honest reviews from more experienced Kiters. A lot of the reviews are from people learning at kite schools or Trip Adviser, not many forum posts coming up in my searches. It look very windy, so I’m hoping it a good place to kite I may hold up there for a few weeks.
  5. Selling theses two boards both in almost new condition. I really like them both but can only travel with one board so I’m trimming down my gear. Flydoor 7 $1200 NOMAD $1000

    FREE LANDBOARD

Free land board and a box of kite spares. I’m clearing out so it comes as a lot, collection only.
  7. I’m having a clear out and came across my old Revo parts. All there except for the axles and the bushings, also someone would have to improvise some boots if they wanted them. But they are serviceable. I no longer need them as I’ve got my 3D printed ones that seem to be holding up so far. So whoever would like them they can have them, just pay for the postage and packing.

    Bag design

FLYSURFER makes awesome kites, but the travel bag that comes with the Soul- I don’t understand why they made it the way they did. So I got out my old Lite bag from my previous 12m only to find that the fancy ‘no jamming’ zip puller had corroded and that bag was useless until I can fix it with a new zip or zip runner. I commented in my review of the Gong Unik kite how much I liked the bag. Just simple things like useful pockets and a plastic chunky zipper. The FLYSURFER travel bag- at last they have put plastic runners on the zips- hooray, about time. But they still put the same ‘no jamming’ runner on the lite bag, so that thing will be useless in a year or two. The other annoying thing with the travel bag, and this really made me scratch my head in disbelief, is the made the whole thing padded. Like padded as if you are going to put a laptop in there! I would much rather I had a tough, one layer bag that is light and strong and has more space in it to get more gear in, possibly two kite with bars, than useless padding for a soft kite. If FLYSURFER designed one GOOD bag that took the best of both their bags that come with the Soul, I think they’d be onto a winner. Anyway I know it’s not a important part of the kite experience, but as a product designer I get a bit OCD about it. So much so that I took a pair of scissors to my new kite’s bag. Gone is all the foam padding and the double lining, except for the back panel, as this will be more comfortable for carrying, and the strap attachments are stitched through all layers which will add more strength. The bag works great, it’s much lighter and now I have more space for things that matter, like kites, or bottles of water, or wetsuits- anything than carrying around useless padding. OK, rant over- carry on!
  9. I can’t speak for the 15m Soul, but my 12m has got me out heaps of times when there are no other tube kiters out there or they try and fail to stay out. so definitely a good option and although the Speed 3 is a fantastic kite, the Soul is just next level good.
  10. Yeah, what happened? Looks like we’re having another shitty kites season like last year. I did get to have a good session yesterday on the new 10m and OMG is this kite fun. It’s a perfect size, fast turning enough to be agile, with lots of floaty jumps that make you feel very secure the kite is going to put you down gently. The loss of low end is hardly noticeable but I could tell as soon as I hot launched in 18-20 knots, without feeling over powered like I would have been with the 12m, that I could comfortably fly this kite in the mid 20s. If you do get a Soul, go for the 10m definitely. Great all round size
  11. After waiting for more than three months because of the Covid back log, I picked up my Soul2 10m a couple of days ago. Yesterday I put it together, gave it a good looking over then headed to the beach to fly it in 8 knots. I was immediately blown away and excited by how much quicker it turned being a 10m and on the shorter 17m lines compared to my 12m and the 20m lines. Very responsive. Then I thought I would see if I could get going on the land board in so little wind. To my surprise it wasn't to hard, turning the kite quicker to generate more power made it surprisingly good fun for such a light wind day. Today I drove to Byron Bay desperate to get on the water with it. No wind up at Kingscliff but Byron was showing some. I got a small window where there was enough wind and the rain stopped. Again I was blown away by how easy it was to turn the kite quickly and generate comparable power to the 12m Soul in these conditions. I was the only twin tip out there, all the other kiters were on foil boards. I came out of the water with a big smile on my face. This kite is a joy to fly and I can't wait to really put it to the test in some decent wind. I will do a full review at some point, once I have some more time to fly it. Watch this space... 12. Hi Axe, Unfortunately I don't have any other videos. The hang time seemed average to me for a kite this size and it's aspect ratio. But also I fly a Flysurfer Soul as my main kite and have only had a couple of sessions on the Unik, so I'm used to insane hang time and wasn't expecting anything special with the Gong Unik. But I am still very impressed with it for the purpose I got it for, which was an occasional high wind kite and for the odd lesson I might get.
  13. Hi, I’m selling my mountain board. Been using this board for years but no longer need it. I’ve just rebuilt it after using the 10” tires and binding for my 3D printed board parts build. So this board has brand new MBS bindings and some 9” tires I’ve had spare. The bearing are old and will probably need to be changed and the tires are bit lumpy. But for $200 I think it’s worth it for someone looking for a cheap set up to get started on or a spare board. Some of the hardware is stainless steel, the handle is one I printed but is plenty strong. The deck has been reshaped on the ends to make it lighter, and I’ve sanded and re-varnished the edges with polyurethane varnish to water proof it. $200 plus postage
  14. Yes , I thought the same. So much work, all those fiddly components, and lots of skilled stitching. Hats off to any body giving it a go.
  15. I thought this was quite interesting.
  16. Great. Thanks Joel. I get that review up.
  17. Yes, I can sell the board only. $80
  18. yeah, still have all this stuff for sale. In fact I have more parts, enough to build a complete board as I recently replaced my wheels and trucks with my own 3D printed parts. Don't know if i have bearings for the wheels, I'd have to check. Is it just the deck your interested in or might you consider buying a completed board from me so I can clear some space?
  19. I got it sorted- Adam from Adam's Kite Repair which is not far from me, did a great job of adapting a spare one he had. So I got to kite that day with it and it worked great.
  20. My Chicken Loop snapped today on my Infinity 3 bar. I need a replacement FAST- don't want to miss any of these lovely Northerlies coming in! Any one got any suggestions? Is there another brand that will do the job? Can't seem to find one in Australia.

This looks like a nice kite. What's the brand, is it closed cell kite for water? Will you do a review or gives us some more info on it?
  22. Yes, I must admit I’ve been very impressed with mine. It’s a really small for me to have, 6.8m, but on those high wind days it's up against others using 9m kites and has plenty of power. I still love the feel of my foil kite, but they are a pain in high winds especially landing them, so usually when I think I’m going to be overpowered on my FS SOUL 12m, I go for my Gong.
