    BuggyBags Appreciation

Jon (@Kitebuggybagman) for the past 15 years has made Bags, Seats and Accessories for kite buggies. It would be great to see what people have purchased from Jon over the years, feel free to share a few photos. @roblukin and I had our seats embroidered with the Extreme Kites logo and our race numbers. Jon let me know the type and thickness of the material, I went and looked at some samples here in Australia to find the 'right orange' and had it shipped to Jon to be stitched in to the seat. Small, personal customisations like that is what I loved about the experience.

  7. So if you ever wanted to go to the extreme high tech end of kite production... Now you can. Makani recently closed after too many crashes and not enough power production. However on closing, they did the right thing and open sourced a huge data archive. There's production schemes, tests, software, patents loads all open now. https://x.company/projects/makani/ It's good to share... But I still think they were mental. (Pals, I can say that) They chose an unscalable architecture. Should have gone networked kites like kite turbines instead bro.

    Kite Regrets

    1) Rhombus Firebee, biggest spanking of my life from that kite. At the time I had 1 kite a PKD Buster 3.0M and decided I needed something larger so following the advice of a local retailer I purchased a used Firebee from him. I took it out in some gusty winds and it promptly lifted me out of the buggy, slammed and dragged me for 20m. The kite was beyond my abilities at the time. On a positive, that screw up with the Firebee led to me buying a Flexifoil Bullet 4.5M which I loved. 2) The first ever Extreme Kites banner. I couldn't afford one of the nice OzFeathers banners at the ti

    Extreme Kites moves to .ORG

It’s no secret that Land Kiting over the past decade has suffered a loss of momentum, as the number of kiters has reduced the fragmentation of the community has increased. This has accelerated how disjointed we are as a community from resources that were once easier to access. Today Extreme Kites has moved to a .ORG domain to clearly signal to everyone that we want you to join us and be part of our community. To help bring more of us together from all over the world, and in turn hopefully together reconnect and enjoy information and content that we thought had been lost forever. Th

    Drone light wind session

Nice little light wind session recorded on my drone earlier in the week. Such a great flat water spot.

  17. I'm not sure of the benefit over traditional wind turbines (I'm sure Tony wont like them!), I guess clean wind at 800 feet - but if it increases is it bye bye kite and truck? And if it drops I guess the robot kite turns the turbine into motors and powers the "kite" to a safe landing? Edit: Ok, I've now watched the videos with the sound! Still not sure of the benefits! I think these guys had the best idea when it comes to tethered flying... http://www.extremekites.com.au/topic/15308-flexifoil-stacker-extreme-stunt/#comment-138399
