    Tribe of Trilobites

Gday, the larger 36, which has a body about 5.5m wide by 6.5 long has a fair amount of pull, we generally anchor it down to the car with 1200 kg spectra. It is probably a little overkill however I generally do not fly it over 15 knots. Being so large it can fly in as low as 3-5 knots with no problems and is very floaty. the little 3m guys do not have a very large lifting surface at all and can be flown on 120 pound spectra. the larger two 36 and 16 I generally launch with long line launch. Once they are in place and no children are hanging off the tails. The smaller ones can g

    Kite Regrets

Following on from @.Joel $10,000 new kites post... What kites or gear do you wish you never purchased. Were they a waste of money, didn’t perform, out performed your flying ability or maybe spanked you so hard that they scare you to this very day. for me it’s Quiver of HQ Montana’s: they were nice kites, flew well and I learned on them. But once I tried a flysurfer speed 3 I realised what I should of been spending my money on. flysurfer boost 9m: my first lei kite, which I purchased for high winds. I have only flown it about 5 times. On the 5th time, in 22-25 kno

    $10,000 to Buy New Kites

Instead of the 'what first kite to buy?" discussions this is a little different You've been kiting for a while, if you were to start over again with the knowledge and experience you have now what would you buy with a $10,000 budget? For me personally my setup would be: GT-Race Rapide++ Peter Lynn Phantom V1 6M Ozone R1 V1 6M Ozone R1 V1 9M Ozone R1 V3/V4 15M I guess an explanation GT-Race Rapide++ I love this buggy, since getting the custom length and height down tubes it's so versatile. Peter Lynn Phantom V1 6M I own the V2 and whilst it's a great

    Kite Regrets

i have many flexifoil early blades -1, 2 ,3 that i love , but my biggest regret is blade iv 4 metre and 6.5 metre , they are easily beaten by , blurr 3.5metre , and blurr 7metre which i also have ,blade iv's are easy to fly , but not my favourite blades -if you like bladeiv's , get yourself an earlier version of a truely classic kite that will never be beaten for jumping and freestlye

Some of the content is starting to appear in the main Forum sections, there's about 1.7M posts and I've moved a good bulk (bit over half) of them at the moment however it's going to take the server quite a few hours to index and rebuild those topics after being imported and then complete the other half. It's also busy merging account statistics from people that had accounts on both websites. Tomorrow (technically today) I'll send out a Newsletter explaining what has happened and welcoming the old KiteCrowd members. I thought I'll hold off that until the system catches up and reindexes e

Bridle plan and line check for the 2016 12m Pansh Blaze III snowkite. Pansh don't release their design lengths for the bridle lines so these are as measured by me on a brand new (un-flown) kite. Given the price of a Pansh kite it's understandable that their factory QC isn't fantastic and I've found that the lengths of the various bridle elements vary a bit between the left and right sides of the kite. The lengths I've given are the mean of L & R so shouldn't vary too much from design. The lengths I've given exclude the ridiculous little piece of string that the Pansh factory

    $10,000 to Buy New Kites

@.Joel, this doesn’t have to be just hypothetical. We can all draw $10,000 from our super at the moment. 🤑 it will add up to more then $10,000, but I would get the following. f-Lynn buggy big race buggy quiver of phantom 1’s quiver of venom II’s quiver of charger 2’s quiver of flysurfer souls ozone r1v1 7m kite boards plus keep all the kites I already have 😉

  24. Wow, that graph really tapered off to nothing. It feels accurate with my own experiences and of buggy friends who drifted away. Social media fragmented the forums but I did not follow them onto those platforms so I stayed and watched it get quieter and quieter. I'm optimistic, however, that the sport will one day make a return, because no matter how sophisticated people become in their lives, there's nothing like harnessing the power of the wind for a free ride. Just as there'll always be sailing, so too will the possibility of kite traction. It has a future, it will be rediscovered and t

    Tribe of Trilobites

We have increased the trilobite family to 8 now. They are all white with red eyes. The new additions are a pair of small 3 m another 7m and a 10m The collection is now 3,3,3,7,7,10,16 and 36m The smaller 6 can effectively fly themselves tethered. But the larger 16 and 36 definitely need a minder i can’t get photos in the air just yet, but the day will come when we can get outside to fly again.
