I sent my BBC membership of at the beginning of December and received it yesterday (13th Jan) and it expires on the 5th Dec 2003! I know it would be nice to have a european working week, but I have never heard of an 11 month year. One other thing, I took out some personal insurance from Sportscover direct , the public liability cover on their policies is only £2m ( only!), most councils I have since found require Public Liability cover in excess of £5m, read the samll print and check before you buy.

I'm thinking about making my own buggy (apart from having spent my entire budget on the kites ), as they seem way expensive for what they actually are. Anyone know of any good designs that are usable? Cheers.

Hi All, I'm relatively new to buggying, having just recently purchased a second hand Peter Lyn buggy. I'm wondering what tips anyone can give me regarding a few questions and any tips on set-up or mods. I find gybing no problem and generally feel happy sailing along. However tacking seems to be catching me out all the time. Most tacks result in me having to go backwards before I can continue forwards or in me getting wrenched out the buggy over the back. Although I seem to be getting better by now watching the kite through the turn instead of where I'm going I still cannot get through the wind and power out the other side. The few times I do get through the wind…

Happy New Year everyone! I was at Lytham last week to go fly my Blade 2m as winds seemed promising. Upon arrival I find less wind and Buggying in progress!!!!! I could have taken mine and some bigger blades, Was this an illegal move or are we allowed on the beach again.? I live in Bolton and have not seen anything in the local papers which also cover some of that area. Or have I just got my head in the sand? Any one know? Cheers

since the last thread went off at a bit of a tangent i started this just got my new buggy out for a decent test run but found i was rolling it from time to time becuase the riding postion was a little high. it is a bit of a hybrid buggy so this may complicate matters a bit but it essentially a libre truck with a v-max axle. i havent had truck to compare it to but the side frame is higher than the v-max (steeper slope from axle) so this puts the seat a bit high allready and i tightened the straps up a bit how low will the seat go on a libre with bigfoots? i probably have a few inches to play with (if you pardon the expresion) but wondered how much clearance…

Have you had to drive miles to get to your favourite buggy beach only to find that there's no wind.Check out http://www.xcweather.co.uk before you leave, it might save you a really frustrating day.And you could get the spare room painted like you promised the wife(personally i'd rather lie about the wind forecast to the wife and go anyway)

What do you do with the peg when you have lanched the kite? I find myself standing next to the buggy with the kite in the air, not knowing where to put it! I have been dropping it into the seat and sitting on it! However I feel it is only a short time until I either lose it out the side or do myself some damage with it!!! If I leave it in the grass I will never find it again or not have it when I need it. Am I being dopey or missing something !!!!! Cheers.....

Hey my names Adam, I've been asked to be on the AKA Traction kite committee for the California Nevada Area. What this means is more events in our area if I can get a list of buggiers in this area. Please let me know who's out there so I find out if we have enough people to do this. The idea is to promote the sport in a positive away that will make us more legit. Thanks everyeone. Adam

does anyone know (or tried it?) if the replacement seats for the Peter Lynn Competition buggies (the ones with that built-in small red back rest) will fit the Flexifoil Original buggies? My buggy is from 1997. The side bars are lower than the bars on the PL Competition (and the newer Flexifoil buggies) so I just wondered if the seat strapping can be bodged to fit? Anyone tried it - do they work ok? Got-a-rip-in-my-seat-and-just-waiting-any-minute-now-for-my-butt-to-spill-out-and-wear-a-hole-through-my-jeans, Kev

i was contemplating getting some fat wheels for the buggy, so i surfed the retail sites over the weekend & have discovered that 3 extra wide wheels & some new forks are going to cost almost £190... well bugger that!!! is there a cheaper option? can u buy fat tyres that fit standard wheels? if so, does anyone know where from? are they worth having? what benefit would i get from sticking them on the back only - bigger power slides, more grip or not much difference? so many questions! thanks... jon

I started flying traction kites about 6 months ago and now feel that I have learned the basics required to fly a kite in light to moderate winds (15mph is my limit so far) and I now want to consider buying my first buggy. I plan to use it mostly on grass and possibly on sand if I can find a good place locally. I dont plan on being a speed freak and am not that bothered about learning tricks just yet. I want a buggy that is going to be easy to control and maintain. My budget would probably be around the £300.00 range. I would be interested in anyones advice on what buggy I should consider getting. Also, should I buy one with wide wheeel/wide axle? Will this make …
