I'm heading over to Lake Lefroy for the regatta, on the way I'm planning on stopping in at Fowlers Bay to explore the huge dunes and hopefully get a run in the buggy. If there's no wind, maybe a whale spotting cruise if the whale's are still there. I plan on arriving late on the 19th Sept and spend the following Sunday and MOnday there. Any South Australians (or WA's) who would like to come and join me are most welcome. After the Lake Lefroy regatta, I'm thinking of spending a few days around Esperance which would probably be Sept 29, 30 Oct 1 & 2. Chook promises we'll see beer drinking kangaroos lounging on the beaches there. I know there's a wonderful beach …

The old Kirra Kite Festival has been giving a new lease on life in the form of the "Gold Coast Kite Festival". On over the long weekend in September, Friday 25th until Sunday 27th. The Redcliffe Kite Club will be putting up a heap-o-kites and displays. At 3 locations it's going to be big. I'm heading east to be part of it. Come and say g'day. Hey, we could end up crossing lines!

Nigel and I are meeting at BP around 11am for a couple of hours to rig up, briefly test fly and photograph some new kites and make sure they're setup correctly before going off for review. Anyone is welcome to come toy around with some gear I'll have with me.

Last week of the financial year, perhaps a chance to celebrate or commiserate , either way the tides are midday and the wind long distance forecast is good. If I don't give a bit of notice no one can get organized so it's a lucky dip as far as the change of forecast goes , somehow the yearly tribute to the queen slipped by with no queens birthday event so here's a chance for the republicans to join in as well Location ... Sandy point Victoria , Date 27th June Low tide 12:44pm 0.8m ( good 2 hrs either side) Cost ...... FREE

I'm just wondering if any of you fine gentlemen are free from work encumbrances this coming week? I have Wednesday and Thursday free and the wind forecast looks pretty promising. Assuming the rain stays away, there might be a chance of getting out on the buggy. Failing that I was thinking of maybe attending the Energy Storage Council Conference at Jeff's Shed on one of those days https://www.energystorage.org.au/event/energy-storage-council-conference/ Anyone interested? So, what do Christians and Kiters have in common??? They both pray for something they can't see? Kites go in the sky and that's where god is? They both talk a lot of shit? Give up?.......... The thing that Christians and Kiters have in common, is that Easter is the most important time of the year. That's right it's time to start the thread for the 2015 Extreme Kites Easter meet @ Yeppoon. Yeppoon is one of the best spots for kite buggying in Australia, with a super wide and rock hard beach. There is usually enough beach for buggying from 1hr either side of high tide, so it allows for long days on the beach and some big distances to be clocke…

Was originally planning a trip to Box Hill for some lens buying, but some machinery replacement costs have killed that idea. However, Sunday's low tide is really low for 13th (.11m) at 12.46pm so maybe a trip to 13th? Moderate southerlys predicted. What say ye?

At the weekend we were 4wd-ing on Preston Beach, some parts of which looked wide enough to buggy on... Looking on Google maps, a bit further south Myalup beach looked wider, maybe worth a look for some beach bugging...

speaking of all manner of kiteing. I dont know if I had anything to do with it but ever so slowly more and more little stunt kites started sprouting up in the air where I was on farnborough today was awesome like a mini kite festival bout half a dozen at one time hahaha was very difficuly to not jump over there and smash them all with my big kite I decided I looked like enough of a knob allready tho with the tripods n helmet cams and failing to do the simplest of tricks. but yeah thats awesome that some of you will be here for the 2 weeks I approached the local kiters down in that little wind window that you said do the gki crossing. they only go from gki to farnborough …
