Beech wind speeds compared to inland?

Hi. Ive been flying for a while but only inland and not on hills; both my kites have 30m lines. Where we fly i have experienced 20mph's (estimated), to be ideal speed for traction and jumping with my blade. Me and some friends are talking of going to Cleethorpes on Thursday the 2nd and i have checked the wind forecast to be 15 mph. Can anybody tell me if a measured coastal wind is equivelent in kiting terms as an inland wind, or will the coastal wind feel stronger? The Friday has estimated 12 mph winds but less chance of rain, so would this speed of wind on the coast give enough power for a 4.9 and 3.0 blade to pull ATB's? Im not sure which would be the b…

When flying stacks of kites, do you need a higher wind speed for launching and flying or can it be done at a lower speed. The minimum reccomended is 8mph+ for the 6's and 8's individually, but I can't find any guidelines for stacks, and now that I have a new 6 and an 8 I can't wait to go and find out how much more power they generate. Any info appreciated. Photek1000

Hi all, I was out again today on the beach (I can see this becoming a regular occurance!) and had a couple of knocks. The wind was gusting, from strong to nothing in a very short space of time, and my kite came down about 4/5 times. After a quick wash off and inspection, I found a number of small abrasions. I guess these are all from the knocking it got when it hit the deck (sandy beach with lots of rocks and stones). Are these serious, or to be expected from driving it into the ground fast. It kinda took me by surprise, so I will (hopefully) in the future be a little more careful. Should I get them repaired, or are they OK? thanks in advance, Ber…

Crash in 17- 18 m/s

Hi Guys. Some weeks ago it was extreme weather at the danish coasts with winds blowing at 17-18 m/s, so I just had to go jumping at Ishoej Beach. When we arrived the wind was blowing strong, so I chose to test my BladeII 4.0 out. When I launched it, it pulled me up in 3- 4 meters in the air, and I flew about 50 m. down the beach....Guys!!..I was litterally flying. ...anyway..I landed some 50 m. down the beach, and at that moment I was getting a little scared, because of the enormous power the kite generated, so I sat down in the hope that I would gain control, but once again I was pulled forward and up in 4 m., and started to fly over some hills behind the beach with…

I have just ordered a 5.5 m Bee. What is the current best estimate of Power Ring length? Have looked in the past posts its not clear. With more Bee's around is there a growing concensus on line length.

I have recently bought a second hand Blade 2 3.0. I have noticed that the previous owner has put a series of symetrical single overhand loops along the brake bridles leading to the part where you attach the flying lines. Does anyone know of the reason for this and should I do it to my other kites? The only think I can think of is if you were flying on 2 lines and wanted to adjust the trim to effect a bit of depower? or am I way off.

Looking for a large-ish kite for those crappy low wind days we seem to be having recently. Flew a Quadrifoil XXL at the weekend and it pulled like a train in a 7MPH wind. Deceptively slow to start, but when the power comes on it just pulled & pulled. Can't afford the 500 quid that they cost new though & no-one is selling -em second-hand Looking at the next best thing, an 8.5 Bee but don't know how it will compare. Bigger I know, but the Quads handle so well. Anybody flown the 8.5?

Yay! I got my Blade II 4.9 on Saturday from powerkiteshop (i went and collected it). It's so sweet!!!!!!!!!! It's like amazing! But i can't fly it til after Xmas day !!!!!!!!!! Can't wait til i take it out on boxing day - i'm taking it out even if there is no wind, the only thing that will stop me is gale force winds and perhaps a blizzard/torrential rain. I got a few tips from John at powerkiteshop on how to fly and use it, but any tips for getting air with it and tricks etc would be really helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *the over excited joel tries to calm himself down, unsucce…

hi i have just got my blade 2 3.0 for christmas and i am 14. I have taken it out for a spin twice now and i am starting to get some big air! I am also worried that i could get cripled by it because one time today it took me in to the air without any warinig and it was not even high up....... so i landed with a crash. What is the best way of geting air well with a blade 2 3.0 and what's the best way to pack up and get the kite going? Because it took me half an hour today.
