Right - just wanting to get an idea of interest levels for a week's trip to Iceland so I can get some prices sorted out. Looking like in the region of £400 for flights, accommodation and transport (including daily transport to the glacier). But price may be more or less depending on numbers. If you're interested then please say so here: http://www.kite-fantastic.co.uk/community/forum/viewtopic.php?t=676 You will have to sign up to the forum to post.

It seems to me that amongst the kiters on this forum there are a lot of skiers/boarders too. It also seems that as soon as someone books a ski/snowboard holiday they want to know whether the resort is suitable for kiting. In my experience in most cases they'e not, but I reckon we need a thread (this thread) to form a list of every ski resort that someone has had a positive kiting experience at (and a list of places which it's just not worth taking a kite to). It is not a list of snow kite venues (it's a list of ski resorts) Periodically I'll update this post based on comments placed in the thread below. If the admin want to make it sticky then cool! Ski reso…

M'lud I rest my case... Flows rock http://www.powerlinesports.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=58&products_id=308&osCsid=f10e5b893f392dc81cd9ca1b44768c75 Cabrinha have release a snowkite specific board (the Empire), along with snowkite specific bindings (the Effect). Seems that Cabrinha are owned by Neil Pryde, who also own Flow. So Flow have built some snowkite specific bindings for Cabrinha... Although they are supposed to be built from the ground up they appear to be rebadged Amp 9 baseplate with squishy EVA baseplate pad (to take the edge of landings) plus the X-Flex strap from the FXT AT, in new colours. Anyone want a pair of last years Pro FS's…

Going skiing the first week in March to Valmorel, third time i've been so not a complete noob, im out of the whole snowplough business put it that way Just wondering is it sensible for me to wear a helmet for just normal skiing maybe a lesson or 2 on a board:rolleyes: ? Im thinkin about taking my Fabio and sabre1 with me if the baggage limit isn't too low, so im gonna need a helmet for that, but is it uncool to wear a helmet for normal skiing. Personally i think its best to look uncool and save ur head when u smash it off a rock, but whats the trend? Also if anyone would recommend a helmet manufacturer it would be appreciated, lookin at Quiksilver atm than…

Hi All, We are proposing to put together a budget snowkiting trip to Iceland at some time around easter. Our regular trips to the Langjokull glacier have been a massive success and we have a lot of happy visitors, but they are expensive to run and we understand that many people would like the option of something a bit cheaper. We won't be able to throw in quite as much as we do for our regular trips, and won't be able to make it as far as the Glacier itself, but we can take advantage of travelling a bit earlier in the season to snowkite closer to Reykjavik. Before we put anything definite together we wanted to get a bit of feedback from people and find out how many …

After spending the last 25 mins on the phone to ozone they have admitted thier is a fault on the frenzy 06 on the brake lines (the out side ones)what I have been told to do is make a knot not more than 6 inches from the end of the line to move the brake lines in,also infront of the clamcleat thier is some webbing with a knot about 2 inches away with a plastic ball over it if you pull the ball back loosen the knot and move it next to the webbing and this should solve the problems.I think this is very bad from ozone and we should not have to go tying ugly knots all over it they dont even offer a replacement but the ones that are in the shops are being recalled after spendin…

Just wondered what is your favourite kite and most used size for snowkiting and where do you ride? Trying to get some views, it seems a lot more complex than kitesurfing, with the 3d terrain, wind compression, wave, rotors and all that stuff.

I snow kited last year and found it easy to jump and turn etc, so a few weeks ago i started snowboard lessons on a dry slope at norwich and now on level 2 but struggling a lot. I am on the main slope but for some reason am unable (most of the time) to turn left to right (so heelside left foot forward to turn right onto toeside. It's driving me nuts !!!! I can do it easy with a kite but feel i should be able to do it without a kite. More so if there is no wind obviously. So basically 1; which is harder? 2; why can i turn every other way except that way? Maybe 1;1 lesson may be a good idea.

Looking to do a trip next year using kites and touring skis to go across the Hardangervidda Plateau in Norway. We have 6 or 7 days and if the wind is good the plan is to go further. Looking at getting one kite for the trip. Question is which kite??? I was thinking about the Ozone Access XC, but does the Frenzy have a better wind range? Or something else entirely I weigh 80kg. Kit in rucksac plus skis/boots will probably weigh another 20kg. I've been kitesurfing for 3 years. Went snowkiting in Haugastol this year with an old 9m Flexi Sabre. Looking for something with a bit more wind range and much better upwind.

am going on a snow kiting holiday next month (woo hoo) havent really done the snow holiday thing before, so interested to hear any words of wisdom peeps might have on base layers and on harnesses have got a pretty good set of snowboarding trousers and jacket. will be wearing a sexy figure hugging thermal baselayer underneath that will that be enough for me legs? will be taking lots of intermediate layers to go between the base layer and the jacket so I can strip off or layer-up depending on how cold it is that day... will that do me? harnesses: there's no way my current harness is going to fit over snowtrousers + crash pants so I can either (a) buy a bigger se…

I like to take up snowkiting with skis. Have been snowkiting with the snowboard quite a few times in the mountains, but feel ski are probably better suited to cross country trips. Can anybody advise as to the type of skis/ bindings/ boots suitable for all mountian cross country?

So it is nearly mid summer and everyone is thinking of a summer holiday getting a tan, kitesurfing etc etc ... and I have been talking today with a friend about snowkiting in Sweden and there are a lot of very interesting places to go if you wanted. The problem comes mainly with TIME and MONEY the further North you go the more time consuming and the more costly BUT the greater the rewards... So the real questions are if you would like to go... 1) how much would you be prepared to spend 2) how long would you want to go for 3) when would you want to go bearing in mind it is damn cold in the very north in mid winter (and very dark a lot too ) any i…

Since the untimely demise of a previous thread I have been asked to re-post details of a trip that we are making to Spindleruv-Mlyn - a winter sports centre in the Krkonose (Giant) Mountains on the Czech Polish border. A small group of us are flying from Cardiff to Prague on the evening of Tuesday 14th December, returning on the evening of Tuesday 21st December with BMIBaby at the glorious cost of £60 return including taxes. The first night will be spent at Sir Tobys Hostel in Prague (£5) before getting the bus to Spindleruv-Mlyn on the morning of the 15th. We will return to Prague on the Sunday or Monday to give us a day or two of Christmas shopping in Prague. Ac…

OK, I cannot help but start my research well before the season starts and have a few questions to kick things off with! I'm thinking of NZ this winter, havn't skied or snow boarded before but i have no doubts about my ability to do so Yes, i figure i could hire a board...but we all know we're addicted so why bother with hiring? So, what size board should I be looking at? I'm 174cm, 68kgs. On the water I use a 125, and Id would say I fall under the category of freestyle with board choice, if that helps with selection? Ok, next is another kite.. I spend most my time on my 10.5m Core GT on the water (13-30+kts~), and as much as I would love to use it on t…

Seems there's two groups of us going next month. One on the 16th and one on the 18th. It's looking good out there.. www.lipno-windsurfing.cz I'm in the 16th group with moomin (oddly-enough), her friend Karen, Simon Edmonds, his mad ex-workmate Rebecca, her friend Sammy, Simon Bailey and possibly Roger Black (also of PKD fame) Who's in the other group?.. All i know so far is m00f, Metal Snapper, and Loki (Gerry, Justin and Ian) Where are you staying etc? We'll be in the Lipno ski resort, so well placed for downhill fun, but hoping for wind! See you on the lake!
